Took delivery on my MME FE yesterday. Like others, an exercise in frustration. To make a long story short:
  • Like many, the car was delivered almost a month later than the original ETA.
  • I've been in and out of my dealership for the past four months. I gave them a list of requests, including: ordering the interior protection package (rubber floor mats), provide a second key fob, and do the homework in advance on the Ford Options plan.
  • So, of course... no extra key fob available, had the front mats, but not the one for the cargo bay, and the finance guy knew nothing about the Options plan until I emailed him hours before delivery the information I obtained through this forum.
  • The car had been charging, but not longer enough, so delivered with a 87% charge.
  • The good news was that they did not put their dealer logo on the car.
  • The actual paperwork part went fairly smoothly. The finance guy, a young man named Matt, was a quick study on Options. He seemed to have the right numbers, but in the end, I decided to go with the .9% straight financing. They honored X-Plan pricing, including limiting their normal $800.00 doc fee to $100.00. He knew about the $100.00 credit for signing the OTA form. Tried to sell me an extended warranty at a pretty attractive rate, but I declined. Most of the forms were electronic and signing was quick.
  • The sales guy said that they had the second key fob on order, and implied that they would provide it free of charge to make up for the delay.
All-in-all, it wasn't too bad an experience, but it kills me that they dropped the ball on the key fob and the rear cargo mat when they had so much time in advance to get it right. Yeah, I know, first-world problems. ;) Now I'm home pulling my hair out over PAAK and Android Auto, but that's for another post.

So, I bought mine at the same dealership (I recognize the picture). They had no idea about Options but I pushed the finance guy (same guy) to go back to Ford and they figured it out. I eventually didn't go with Options either. I had some sleazy dealer stuff with these guys but overall I'm happy, other than my car isn't here yet. I bought a unit in transit and it hasn't gotten here yet

Congrats :) I'm hopeful that the all-online process will make things easier in terms of getting Options set up without even needing to talk to the dealer's finance guy.

The fobs are on back-order whenever I checked parts.ford.com ... so it may be legit that they are having problems getting it.

The winter mats do not include the cargo-bay mat. It only includes the floor mats. The cargo bay mat has to be ordered separate. When ordered with the car, the cargo bay mat does come with the kIt ... just not when ordered via the parts dept. Weird that they do it that way.

Actually an 87% charge is great. It's not recommended that you charge to 100% unless you plan on road-tripping and need all that range. My normal overnight charge is only to 80%. The manual recommends not going over 90% when you don't need all of the range.

Think I read some where on the forums that no one can get a second fob at the moment so they didn't really drop the ball on that. (disclaimer: might have been posted that this has changed but I haven't been keeping up with the forum lately)

The delivery delay has nothing to do with the dealership. Seems unfair to blame them.

True, but they could have ordered the key fob two months ago when they were in stock. They didn't order it until I took delivery.

Not sure the fob has ever been available at Ford for more than five minutes maybe. I started trying to order one over four months ago and it was never available through my dealer or directly from Ford. That's why I bought my extra from carandtruckremotes.com. Drive the car for a couple of days and I hope the memory of a few glitches will be pushed away. Have to say that my dealer was wonderful on every dimension. I did not deal with financing or options so perhaps mine was simpler than yours.

Hey, at least you were able to have the front license plate bracket deleted!
Here in Cali, it's factory installed... :(

Can confirm, FOB has never been available from my dealer at least. I’ve obtained two from carandtruckremotes.

How are you programming the remote from carandtruckremotes?

so far nobody knows how to do it - they have their dealer do it or, in a few cases, a locksmith with very current hardware.

typical Ford practice for self-programming requires you to have two working fobs to start with.

dealers will vary in what they will charge for this (we've seen different numbers from people on here) but it shouldn't be too bad.
