Delivery date changed by 3 weeks

Hi,

I created order for my Mach-E premium on 7/7/2021. Dealer confirmed order on 9/27 and finally in Feb-2022 a production date was assigned for my car. Production moved several times and the car was built on 03/26 and shipped. Initially ford told me the car will be delivered in week of 4/25 - 4/30, but later on 4/27, the date was changed to 05/16-05/22. I called the dealer who said the car was stuck in KC, but has now moved and is on way to dealer. I wonder how many days it takes for car to be moved from KC to Seattle? Also, how was your experience with Ford's delivery dates?

My car took 1 week from KC to San Diego. Yours will likely be similar. That was to the depot though, not the dealer. There will be trucking involved after it reaches the rail yard drop off in the greater Seattle area.

In this day and age, with transportation not able to keep up (trains and trucks), there is no standard time.

Mine was done on 3/1. It didn't ship until a few weeks ago, and was in Laredo on Friday, with Ford saying it would be here by today. This morning they updated today to 5/9 - 5/15. Want to bet they miss that too?

My guess is a week or so to Seattle. Then a wait for a truck, trucker and room in a truck. No clue on that. My car waited ... Drum roll …6 weeks in San Diego for the boat. A boat that is primarily are car carrier.

But it’s just a guess. I’ve been known to be wrong.

After a wait of full 10 months, I finally got my car yesterday. It did wait at train yard for 3-4 days before dealer received it.
My dealer was exceptionally nice though. As soon as car landed from the truck, he called me and told that I can come up now to complete the paper work, but, they cannot make delivery of the car until it's ~70% charged, cleaned and full PDI done.

I was bit scared about dealers not honoring the sticker price (read a few forums here), but my dealer (Harris Ford Lincoln, Lynwood) did not create any such issues. They did not even press me for any extras and offered me better APR than my credit union. I eventually ended up buying extended service contract just for the peace of mind (the cost was offset by lower APR).

The only thing that bummed me was missing handsfree tailgate. I reached out to my dealer and he told me that Ford made a decision to remove handsfree tailgate because of chip shortage back in January. Though with 2 little kids, its fine not having this feature to avoid accidents but I would have appreciated if Ford has clearly communicated this earlier. While researching on lift gate, I also came to know that Acoustic laminated glass from front windows has also been removed. Another thing that Ford should have communicated clearly.

But, anyways, I am happy with my car and its cyber orange color does turn some eyes. :)
