I've got a small dent at a contoured part of the door, one that would potentially be fixable by Paintless Dent Removal. Wanting to DIY, I realize that suction cups won't work at the site. But I see there are puller tools which seem to rely on hot gluing a plastic piece to the depression and pulling on it with a special tool. I'm concerned about what the hot glue might do to the clear coat. Anyone have experience with these tools?

I had small dents fixed by a PDR guy using glue. No issues at all.

I've used my hot glue kit several times with zero paint damage. I'm sure automotive paints have to withstand much higher temps than a hot glue gun.

This is the kit I got. I had to pull 15 times for a pretty sizeable dent, so the paint puts up with a lot.

Nothing wrong with using hot glue. I am extremely anal when it comes to dents and have the slightest ones removed immediately. My PDR guy always says, Todd no one would ever notice that, but okay I'll pull it.

In hard to reach areas he uses hot glue all the time.

I have used this tool, but I would pay a PDR tech if that is an option for you. Pulling it is not really the problem. Skill with the tool to flatten the raised spot properly is the problem. The hot glue cannot be used in the sun due to the low melt point. The puck will pull off instantly. Comes off with no damage with hair dryer and rubbing alcohol.
