Hi guys,

Following a small shock, my front right door has a small dent. I contacted my mechanic to try to remove the dent with a rod slipped into the door, but he doesn't want to do it because it seems that the Mach-E windows are too fragile. Are you aware of this problem? Has anyone already had a dent ripped out in this way? Is there a diagram of the door that could bring to my mechanic so that he can intervene safely ?
Thanks.

If your mechanic doesn't feel comfortable doing this, don't trust him/her to do the job.

Call a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) professional. There are lots of them around. You can start with Dent Doc. They are a referral company with service providers across the country. https://1800dentdoc.com/

I just had two dents removed, one in the driver's door and one in the LH Rear door.

You want a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) professional, not a mechanic. No, there is nothing about the Mach-E that is special. Aluminum has been around for quite a while, and they know how to remove those dents.

If you don't have this in France, do some research online, there are kits.

A good PDR pro is a magician in my book. Had a dent taken out of my hood and a door ding removed. Not a trace afterward.

Unfortunately, I live in France, so I can't use 1800dent repair. What can I say to this repairer to convince him to take care of my door ? He seemed to be saying that the laminated glass was too fragile, but I think all glass is laminated these days.
What are my chances of successfully repairing the car on my own with an Amazon kit like this :

https://www.amazon.fr/MENQANG-Débosselage-Peinture-Réparation-Conviennent/dp/B099F1MVX3/
How far are you from these folks?
https://www.pdr-team.fr/

I recommend you find a PDR specialist near you.

As a person who tried the DIY repair route on a Mustang, I suggest that you don't do it. I don't know how much better/lucky others are, but even though made it a "bit better", it was clearly still visible.

And I agree with the others; a mechanic usually doesn't have the right skill set. You need someone that specializes in this. And the last thing I would do is try to convince your mechanic that it is OK to try.

I second the Paintless Dent Repair idea. Not my GT but I recently had a door damaged in a wind storm. Took it to several body shops and they wanted $2500-$5000 to fix it. I thought I’d give PDR place a shot and you can’t tell it was ever dented or scratched. $500.
