I was thinking I had the answer to this but it was a remote start question regarding preconditioning. I set my car to a departure time using FP and it showed it as it was scheduled. I did not plug it in and just wanted to see what would happen. I came at my departure time and nothing was warm. I do not think that I left anything heat wise on but I was not concerned with that as the departure time while plugged in (the best I remember) will heat everything no matter what you leave it set at.

When you set a departure time in FordPass, there’s an option for “Allow start when vehicle is unplugged”.

I tried this exactly one time. I was at work and set my departure for when I should have gotten out of work. It was 10° F and there was snow on the ground where I parked. The car was left unplugged. I ended up not getting out of work until about 3 hours after I should have. So of course the car was cold. But all the snow on the ground under the car had melted and the bare pavement extended a foot or so away from the car. That told me the battery did get toasty warm at one point.

I just tried this out yesterday. I set my departure time from work and the cabin temp to medium when the car was not going to be plugged in. When it got to the departure time I received a notification from the Ford Pass App that since the car was not plugged in the car used remote start to precondition the interior of the car.

when I got to the car the interior was warmed up, the seat heater and steering wheel heater were on and it only used about 2% of the battery to do so.

I have only had the car for a little over a week now, but I am finding I love the car even more than I thought I would. Yes, because it is an EV, there is a big learning curve and unexplainable quirks that only happen intermittently, but they haven’t outweighed the huge benefits the car brings.

This works for me. Mine is nice and toasty when I leave work each day with the appropriate settings checked in the app.
Appreciate all the replies but I cannot get mine to work and I have tried everything. It did work unplugged the first week I got the car (1 month ago) so I do know how to set it but nothing so far. Anyone on forum know what issue that could be, what module or what ever? thanks to all

just checked out departure time while plugged in and now it does not work. That has never failed me as I use it about everyday. Ford any ideas as why my departure time does not work now even though it shows scheduled in the FP app.

I do not have my vehicle yet so no experience. My suggestion would be to clear all of your settings and then reprogram using the in vehicle display and not FP.

No, it won't. The option to "allow start when unplugged" is for remote start. Remote Start will not precondition the battery, but will condition the cabin.

I do want this feature, though! I know it will use a lot of energy to precondition, but I'd typically (or even sometimes) would like to leave with my battery ready to rock.

So I think you are saying that departure time pre condition will not work while unplugged and I have checked start while unplugged
