My free adaptor is due in August so I ordered one from A2Z but it hasn't shipped either. There is a 15% discount code on state of charges youtube review

My guess is that it’s Ford’s responsibility to source the adapters. Tesla gives them the specs like the other aftermarket solutions.
Your guess would be incorrect in this case. Tesla is responsible for both the design and manufacture of the adapter (who actually builds it is another question). Ford is literally just the middle man in all this.

I’m actually so very disappointed in this thread, I had expected it to be an April Fools thread. Another missed opportunity, thanks Ford! ;)

Makes me scratch my head. Third party manufacturer is already shipping units while OEM manufacturer still coming soon …
3rd parties are charging for theirs, Ford is giving theirs away. You do the math.

Ok. I just did the math. Here's the equation: 0 adapter stockpile ready for day 1 * unknown production ramp of adapters = numerous automakers customers waiting until late 2024 before receiving an adapter for an 'order' place in Mar 2024. It's just crazy that they didn't have any, not 10, not 20, 100 adapters ready to go out to customers on the 1st day. Maybe they should have talked to Apple about how to rollout products.

Tesla's Buffalo plant makes the Superchargers. Magic docks included. Makes one think Tesla approved adapters are made here.

Good point. However, they made such a big deal out of it - a real customer relations bonus, that in the interest of customer relations, they might have had some ready, or even soon-to-be ready, to ship, free or not. I’ll admit I wasn’t a business major and haven’t even played one on TV, but promising and delivering seems pretty elective course level, IMHO.

It's being made by Tesla, they're supplying a hundred thousand-ish adapters to Ford and Rivian, not to mention whatever's going on behind the scenes for the other dozen manufacturers that signed up with them.

Yeah, and, …

They still haven’t shipped any. They’re the same adapter for everyone of those manufacturers - CCS to Tesla. Still seems to me that by now, they’d be down to at least 90,000 left to go and counting.

It’s a new capability and a free adapter that none of us were expecting when we bought the car. I’m confused as to why people are upset. How is Ford being branded as the bad guy here? I think what they did is awesome.

The adapter seems to be made by Tesla … but distributed by Ford and Rivian for their respective owners.

When I ordered mine (official Ford adapter), the delivery date showed the middle of the year. I have a trip planned (2,400 miles), and I knew I’d appreciate ALSO having access to Tesla SuperChargers. So I ordered the A2Z adapter back in February — knowing that I’ll get another adapter from Ford at no cost to me. I’m pretty happy about that.

When I ordered my A2Z the website indicating that shipments were happening about 15-20 days after the order is placed (they have a backlog — that’s pretty understandable). 20 days later, my adapter shipped.

If you can wait, you’ll get a free adapter. If you can’t wait, there’s a 3rd party solution that works (But you’ll want to plan for about a month from time of order to delivery given it will take nearly 3 weeks before it ships and the shipping is via UPS ground and that could eat up another week.)

100% agree!

Ford did do an unexpected goodwill gesture by getting us a free adapter.

We should have ZERO complaints and have more positive messages on social media.

I couldn't wait due to my road trip travels so I ordered both a Lectron and A2Z in early March.

Lectron never showed up but A2Z did in 3 weeks.
@A2ZEV has the most friendly & responsive customer service whenever I emailed or called them.

Love my $200 A2Z adapter and will keep it along with the Ford as a backup in case it gets stolen while charging unattended...

I think there’s some confusion on how it is possible that a third party company can already be shipping a comparable product to consumers but Tesla/Ford are still weeks away. Complimentary adapters are great but you can’t use it if you don’t have it.

The summer travel season is quickly approaching with Memorial Day weekend just next month. I think we’ll see some fretting if the adapter delivery times slip for reservation holders between April-June.

Rather rumors, the forum members would like a source for your statement.

I’m glad you’re happy.

Me, I’m not upset but I’m still scratching my head as to why the source (Tesla) and the first adopter (Ford) still can’t ship the adapters weeks after the big announcement when two other third party vendors have been shipping for a month or more. But, hey, I know, it’s free, it’s free!

Tesla is making the adapters. From all accounts it's essentially the same as the Magic Dock device.
