I wish I could describe the difference better but all I know is I have had the car since 2021 and the chime (for seat belt, etc) has changed to some horrible version. Also the car makes the same beep when i hit options on the radio.

I dont remember how it was before but I know it was much more pleasant.

Do I have an issue with an update or perhaps my chime is blown out (i have had many times my speakers/chime make a horrible loud noise after updates) or did they change it?

Thanks

Was this only on one drive or many?

The chime will sound through the instrument cluster instead of the normal speaker system when there is some sort of issue causing it to fail over to this mechanism. But it may be a very temporary failure or bug in code, this my question above.

Have you tried restarting SYNC?

Yes its been months now, I hate it.

I think I have reset my SYNC since this started but I will try that just incase.

I think this is the problem, it permanently failed over.

Is it a fast 'cha ding cha ding cha ding" like 8 times? If so that's a fault, that's not showing up on the IPC. It also will run those chimes after an update (sometimes) or FDRS (most of the time).

I think I'd try rebooting all the modules by disconnecting the 12V battery for a few minutes.

If you're uncomfortable trying that, another option could be to remove certain fuses like the one for the DSP. Fuse tables/diagrams are in our owners manuals.

This problem is usually caused by a low 12v battery.

If you’re driving a 21, you’ve hit the end of the useful life of the 12v battery. Get it replaced pronto before your car fails to start.

This happened to me last year with my 2021 CA RT 1. It turned out to be a low 12v LVB. I disable the timer and left the car on for 3 hours. that took care of the issue for me. I havent had the issue since then.

That will work. Until the battery just gives up and dies without warning.

What do you mean by disable the timer? I guess it cant hurt to try this and at least determine my issue is the same as yours was.

After I confirm the LVB to be the issue, I guess I could get it tested at a local autoparts store to confirm its an issue.

I will have had the car for 3 years in December. I think my car was built around October 2021. 3 years seems like a very short lifespan for a 12v battery though.

problem is that pressing VOL start/stop button in center ring shows momentary flash on console screen, but does NOT start audio.
no radio
no phone
no nav audio

so I tried:

-soft sync reset w vol down+ right skip... no fix

-pulling/checking/replacing a few possible fuses (23,17,4)... did not fix.

-pulled 12v+ from battery for a couple minutes to hard reset everything, replaced, SOLVED.

... no idea WHY, since I have not had an OTA update in over a year. I do not do FDRS, so nothing has changed software wise in my vehicle for a long time.

this is a totally different, but important topic.
the MME battery will last 35-40 months, and fail suddenly without notice.

They meant the auto-shut off. If you leave the car in the 'on' state it will shut off after 30 mins. There is a setting that will disable that auto shut off. By keeping the car running (in a very secure place, like a garage) the car will continually charge the 12 VDC battery.

But fully topping off a 12v lvb might fix it for a drive cycle. If it's got a low SOH ( state of health, how well it holds it's capacity ) it'll bleed off a bunch of it's SOC ( state of charge, the actual capacity ) when keyed off or accessories are used like headlights, AC etc. It's good practice to replace the battery that has a 3 year warranty around 3 years. The 12v is like a cell phone battery to these cars. Charge up drain to nearly dead, charge a bit more, drain more.
