Is there a way? It doesn't turn off when selecting motion sensors "off" when prompted after turning car off. The alarm goes off due to vibrations on the ferry and it's annoying to the crew and other passengers.

Leave the car turned on but lock the doors? It’s not like you would be wasting gas.
No way I know to disable the alarm.

You need to go into the settings and turn off the alarm, the pop up has a big. Also, it reverts to on every key cycle so each time you want it off you have to go into settings and turn it off again

Interesting, so there's an option in settings to turn off the alarm completely? I knew there was a setting to disable motion controls, but didn't realize there was the ability to shut off the alarm completely. That would be perfect. I'll look for it as soon as I'm back at the car.

Thanks!

I think he’s saying to turn off the motion sensors in settings. There is a bug when you click yes to turn off motion sensors in the pop up that perhaps makes it not actually turn them off.

This might work, though I'd have to remember to turn off the auto-shutdown, if I were leaving it more than 30 minutes, right? Or is the auto-shutdown not in effect if the car is fully on?

Thanks for the suggestion that it could be a bug in the pop-up! I will try disabling motion sensors from inside the settings app next time and see if that makes a difference.

That said, I did look into the Vehicle alarm settings, and the description is confusing and contradictory. When I tap on the below "i":

Ford Mustang Mach-E Disable inclination (tilt) sensor 1678598381987

...I see this screen, which strongly implies that turning off motion sensors should also turn off the tilt sensor:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Disable inclination (tilt) sensor 1678598537487

However! Tapping on the "i" next to "Ask on Exit" contradicts this implication, as it says:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Disable inclination (tilt) sensor 1678598689150

So which is it, @Ford Motor Company ? Is disabling motion sensors supposed to disable the tilt sensors, or not?

Finally, I'm confused by the separate settings for Motion Sensors On/Off and Ask on Exit both being active at the same time. The settings app freely lets me tap Motion Settings On and Off even though "Ask on Exit" is on. Ordinarily, I would expect turning on "Ask on Exit" would disable/gray out the Motion Sensors On/Off section.

Thoughts on this?

It reactivates every key cycle, so ask on exit should not gray out if you turn off sensors in settings as next key cycle it’ll be back on.

Description doesn’t matter for the pop up, there is a bug with it so gimme is telling you to not use it at all right now and just turn it off in settings. Again, you have to do this every key cycle.

Same goes for leaving your car on. You’ll have to turn off 30 minute timer every key cycle. So pick your poison.

The best solution would be to disable the power down timer so it never shuts off using FORScan then leave your car on for the ferry.

I think the best solution would be to make "ask on exit" work as intended. It does not work now. I have to assume this is a software glitch. Why would we be given the option to turn motion sensors off on exit and then have our selection ignored? I think the problem may be that the "ask on exit" choice is only presented once the car has been turned off. At that point the motion alarm has already been turned on by default.

Perhaps that "ask on exit" dialog should pop up when the vehicle is put in park, BEFORE it is turned off. Perhaps then it would function properly.

The only way I know to turn off the motion alarms now, is to go into the vehicle settings, and then alarms, and turn off motion alarms, before you turn the car off. Motion alarm should be off then until the next key cycle when they will be armed again by default. But we have to remember to do this each time it's necessary.

I believe Ford has to fix this. It should be an easy choice to make. If I have passengers who stay in the car, or my dog, or I'm on a ferry, it needs to be easy to disable motion alarm. Come on Ford get it right. Often, It's the little things that count and this is one of them.

Yes you would need to disable the auto shut down if your ferry ride is more than 30 minutes. I have turned it off on both my Mach-e. It’s kind of a weird setting IMO. If I leave the car on, it’s on purpose. I guess it’s there for the forgetful / inattentive folks.

The glitch has been around since the first car was delivered over two years ago. Since Ford has failed to address the bug, at this point I think it’s fair to call it a “feature” instead.
