Does anyone have any clue when the Preferred Timing Charging will be fixed? I am still having issues with charger not charging at night when it suppose to when I have it on the preferred charging time mode. I have to go out and fiddle with the plug in and out andstart the car when the plug is in to reset the charger and so on. It's very annoying and has been noted by many. There is an issue in the software I am assuming. Does Ford not care on addressing the issue for their owners?

Any inside especially Ford Techs on here please.

Thank you

I haven't heard a lot about preferred charging times not working, and I have never had a problem.

A couple of things to check:
  • Is the preferred time set on the car, or on the app?
    • If it was set on the app, check the car's screen too, to make sure that it agrees with what you set in the app.
  • Double check your EVSE and make sure that you don't have preferred charging times set there as well.
    • If you car thinks it is time to charge, but your EVSE doesn't, the EVSE won't send any power to your car.
  • Next thing to try would be removing the preferred times, and re-adding them (from the car's screen).
  • Double check your clock.
    • There is a setting for the clock to auto set the time, but at one point, I think an OTA update switched that off for me, and my car's clock was wrong.
Good luck!

I just had a Preferred Charge Time issue, it wasn't working. By accident I was cruising through my center screen for anything that might pertain to the issue when I discovered my clock was 12 hours off, AM instead of PM. Corrected the clock and everything went back to normal.

I don't know when, why or how the clock got changed, I certainly didn't do it. Maybe an OTA update?

What charger do you have? There absolutely is an issue with the Ford Charge station Pro with regard to preferred charging time issues. This is well known and presumably Ford is working on an software update but they are taking their time.

I didn't realize that. Does the Ford Charge Station Pro communicate with the car to get preferred times, or something? Can you configure the Ford one to be a "dumb" charger and just provide power whenever the car asks for it?

I use an Autel, and I have no preferred times configured there, and just let the car handle the preferred times...

I know of no way to set the FCSP to act as a "dumb" charger. I am somewhat ignorant of how the charging sessions are managed whether through the vehicle, the fordpass app, or the charger or a combination of devices. Maybe someone can respond with that info.

How often are you experiencing this, @BigGuy007?

My car failed to charge a few nights ago but then worked fine the following night. I have Ford's Connected Charge Station. I only notice the failure to charge as scheduled about 2-3 times per year, I'd estimate. I have no idea why it happens but I've always assumed it's buggy software in the vehicle.

I also had this within the last couple weeks, after discovering my car didn't start charging at the preferred charge time start....

Went out to the car the next morning, and the clock was off by about 2.5 hours randomly......

I’m also consistently having trouble with the Preferred Charge Time schedule not being honored at my home location, after having worked fine for the last year.

I’ve deleted & readded my home location charge schedule, but that didn’t help. I also verified the clock settings are correct based on this thread; that doesn’t seem to be my issue either.

This evening, after plugging in and noticing the charging started at peak hours (e.g. outside my schedule), I stopped the session and went to the charge settings on the car. I noticed under the Preferred Charge Times tile it was showing ā€œanytimeā€, so I went into the menu and I clearly see my home location & schedule setup — but then also noticed the ā€œadd locationā€ button was available. I tapped that and added a label (ā€œHome 2ā€) and the associated address was from several miles away at a point along my work commute. Oddly, when I switch to the Navigation app on the car it shows my expected home location, as does the vehicle location within the Ford mobile app.

One more bug I’ve noticed consistently as of late, is that the Compass heading displayed on the instrument panel cluster is extremely laggy / delayed to update. My MME is a 2025, so only just recently received an OS update that fixed a known bug where the Compass never displayed on the IPC to begin with, so I’m not sure if the laggy updates are a new bug or not. However, it’s curious and seems to correlate with the delayed location update when adding a preferred charge schedule while parked in my garage but instead it registering as an address from miles away.

I’m out of ideas at this point…

(y) I've definitely had my clock reset itself after an OTA in the past, which was the one and only time I had issues with Preferred Charge times....
