I like to drive in Engage and at times Unbridle mode. My wife likes to exclusively be in the Whisper mode as she’s usually carrying the baby and generally finds that mode calm for her driving needs, because it is.

However, I noticed that when I switch the driver profile, the drive mode doesn’t change?

Is the drive mode not associated with your driver profile? Am I doing something wrong?

On the Mach-E, I believe it is saved. When using the profile, change mode then hold profile button until it beeps,

I believe it is saved if you select it then save your settings. But, I think it also needs to be associated with a unique key (either fob or paak) tied to that user too. And that needs to be the key in use when the car is started. My girlfriend had her key fob in her purse, and the car keep latching on to it rather than mine, so I’d hit button 1 to readjust the settings for me, but it never went to my drive mode until I manually selected it. When mine is the only fob the car can see, it selects my settings and drive mode automatically.

Actually, I just tried it again and here are my observations and I must say I must have made an error or just observed poorly.

The way it’s working is actually fascinatingly flawless!

The physical profile buttons on the door work exactly as the touch screen profile switching buttons. I mean, exactly.

I kept all the key fobs inside the house. I only had my phone with PAAK setup with me. Spouse was not anywhere near the car either.

I am driver 1 (door profile button) and I am also driver A (touch screen profile). I first pressed 1 on the door. The car adjusted everything for me right away INCLUDING my drive mode.

I then pressed 2 on the door. The car completely became my wife’s, including the drive mode.

I then repeated the experiment by pressing A on the touch screen. Car became fully mine again including the drive mode. And finally, pressing B on the touchscreen made the car my wife’s again.

It is actually working so well, that even if I switch the profile halfway, it works without any glitches. Profile photo switches, seats readjust, mirrors readjust, and so does the drive mode. I know, I know, this isn’t revolutionary. But I’m just glad it works. I didn’t even switch the car off in between.

You brought up an interesting point I had never thought about before so please help me out here. Since my wife and I share this car, we tend to use the same key fob which creates confusion as it’s sometimes in her purse and sometimes it’s in my trouser pockets lol. Is there a way for each of us to use our own key fob? That way I can also attach Apple tag to my own key? If yes, how’d I train the car for it to recognize my key fob as mine and my wife’s as hers?

There is a setting in profiles that lets you link a fob and a phone to a profile. If I remember right you need to just have one fob in the car when you set it up. So set your up to your profile with your fob, remove your fob, then repeat with your wife's fob. Phones have names, so those are easier to set up.

Love it. I unlinked my wife’s fob from driver profile and setup my own. Thank you!

My wife and I use PAAK. Our profiles are associated with each of our phones (as well as fobs), and can confirm when we use the car it adjusts seats and all profile-dependent settings including drive mode.

There is however one thing I noticed that is a bit of a mild annoyance.

If two phones are paired with the car, they both show up in each profile. This is generally okay as the passenger can switch to his her phone if needed as it’s already paired even if I’m driving using my profile. I feel like there’s an opportunity for enhancement. Hide other phones by default. Show and prioritize the phone of the driver. And if other phones need to be seen, there should be an explicit user action to do so.

This is because from time to time I observe that when I start driving, after a few minutes it flashes a message that it cannot find my wife’s phone which was previously connected, and this is when my phone is fully connected to the car.

Our MME seems to recognize/prioritize the phone by driver. When I unlock the car and my profile is active, it defaults to connect to my phone (except the times that it fails to connect). Similarly with my wife.

I don't recall doing anything special to create default phones associated with each profile.

I do like having multiple phones programmed in the car so I can switch to my wife's or one of the children's in case they want to make a call or control music.

You use your keyfob to create a PaaK. This is what ties a profile to a keyfob to a PaaK. I’ve never set up a PaaK with keyfob 2 but that may explain why the profile defaults to keyfob 1 settings.
