You can change the code from 5 to 7 or 7 to 5 digits in FORScan in case anyone wanted to do that.

Weird that Ford uses only a five digit number for the US. And since the door only has five buttons, it isn’t 10^5, the number of combinations is actually only 5^5.
Doesn’t seem too secure.

Hello all, I can’t find anyone with. Similar problem so I have to ask.
I’m in the UK & apparently European cars use a 7 digit door code (from factory). I never got the code card with my car, so I used to 2 key trick to reveal the code on my cars display, however the car only gives me a 5 digit code by doing this, but the sync system asks for a 7 digit code in the programming menu. Does anyone know why the car would only reveal a 5 digit code when the car needs 7? I’ve ordered a Forscan compatible OBD II reader from Amazon, but I’m thinking that even reading the BCM will only reveal a 5 digit code. Any help greatly appreciated.
Mine has 02 after the 5 digit code for US

Yeah, only 3,125 possibilities. And disables after 35 button pushes. Been around for 43 years.... Sounds very unsecure.

Passenger side footwell (on LHD cars). Pull up and back on the panel on the floor to reveal the BCM module with the code printed on the sticker (red box) . In the US only 5 of the 7 digits are used. In other locales all 7 numbers are used as the door code.

Worked a treat and I now have my code. Cheers.

I lost the card on a previous Ford that I owned. I stopped at my dealer and they connected and gave me the code. It took 5 minutes and there was no charge.
Smart; I haven’t been back to my dealer since I bought the car 3 months ago. I keep my car key code in my phone where I can retrieve it if necessary.

Unless your phone is dead.

I recommend creating an additional key code that you will remember (and a backup start code).
Good to know; will do that. My fear of being cell phone-less is such that I always keep a portable back-up charger with me! LOL!

Left hand footwell of a RHD (proper driving position) car.
Well it’s good to know that from now on we can just tell people to look behind the panel in their passenger side footwell regardless of what country they’re living in and that’s where they’ll find the code.
