Um, no one should fall out if they are wearing a seatbelt... and I've had no such issue in the year I have had mine.
Irrelevant If your seatbelt holds you in. If your door is opening unexpectedly while driving it’s a problem. Kids could fly out and you could lose important things like your latest purchase at the dispensary, liquor store or grocery crap.like food ….

Like the Boeing 737 Max sometimes you don’t want the computer to control everything. Especially if it’s not in the owners manual

I was never a fan of those tricky door latches. If you want to hide them Do it like Tesla did they figured it out pretty good

Not a fan of the “baby finger” latch

This is unreal...driving on the highway and the passenger door decides to open itself! This is an ongoing sensor issue but now local dealers can take the car in for a month. There are plenty of instances where people have had the door fault warning and apparently its a door sensor. But has anyone else had the door actually open on its own while the car is in motion? We have had the door open twice previously while the car was parked. @Ford Motor Company you guys really need to be looking into this...what if someone falls out of the car because the door opens on the highway or the door flys open due to wind pressure and causes an accident? And to top it all off I can't get an appointment with a Ford dealer for a month because qualified techs are in short supply???
Can you describe "door opened" in a bit more detail? I presume it can't fully open on the freeway due to aerodynamics so perhaps it popped open a slight bit?

I had a door striker latch loosen. If that got loose and you hit a bump then perhaps the popper activated? Just theorizing here.....

Good work.

Question: have you had 21P22 updates done yet? Those included door module updates which may possibly help.
GTPE built end of last year. Don’t think that update applies.

Driving at highway speed and the door opened as if someone pushed the button outside. It opened as much and the mechanical opener props it open. It did not swing open because it was a straightaway but I was driving on a curve then the g-force would have opened more or all the way and something or someone could have fallen out.

it was just the driver in this case, on the other side of the car so in this specific case no person was going to fall out. And yes if a passenger was there and wearing seatbelt then it would be very unlikely they would fall out but that is not the only possible scenario. Tragic accidents generally don’t happen when everything is perfect….

I think it’s just a ford thing. They had a recal on fusions because when the door would lock it would pop open ?.

Didn't you ever try to open the door while moving on the road? It will never fly open even if you try to force it. You need to try hard to fall out of the car in this case.
But I agree these type of glitches is totally unacceptable

Of course, driving straight at speed and you open the door it is hard to fully open. But try doing that while taking a highway exit or on ramp with the door on the outside of the curve and let me know what happens…

Hi there! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to assist you on my end.

I simply said "no one" would fall out if wearing a seat belt. Obviously it's not a good situation, but the law says all passengers should be secured with a seat belt. Follow the law, and no one falls out. If your children fall out, you failed to do your part in ensuring their safety. If they unbuckled themselves, you should have stopped the car (and perhaps worked harder to ensure they behaved properly).

Yes, it's bad a door opens on its own. But it's also bad to ignore the fact that there are other safety features that would prevent falling out if the door failed.

As for material things, they don't qualify as "someone", which is what my response was about. If you want to equate people to things, you really do have a much bigger problem on your hands.

You're right, tragic things don't happen when everything is perfect. Tragedy, by the truest definition, indicates that someone had too much confidence in something. We should never have too much confidence in anything, which is why we should follow the law and wear seatbelts. And ensure our children wear them... properly. If we can't do that, then we deserve to fall out if the door latch fails... or fly through the windshield if the brakes fail. Why do we always have to pin all the blame on someone else when we fail to take as many precautions as possible.

Remember, cars are made by humans. When you find a perfect human designing and making cars, then you can skirt all the other safety features and not worry.

My dogs don’t fit well in seatbelts, unfortunately.
Yeah... I don't transport animals loose in the car... they could become a distraction and interfere with my view/driving/ability to pay attention. I take the necessary precautions.

Come on man, that's really not the issue, right? ?
