I’ve seen a few similar threads, but in those the ford app is usually using 5-15% of phone battery per day. My ford app is regularly using up 25%+. As best I can tell, it’s because my phone is close enough to my car in the garage that it just stays connected/keeps reconnecting to the car via Bluetooth throughout the day. Anyone else having issues like that? I can turn my Bluetooth off which helps somewhat, but it seems a bit ridiculous to have to choose between having a functional app/PAAK and using Bluetooth on my phone.

I reached out to Ford Support but they didn’t recognize it as a known issue.

anyone else out there with this issue? Any solutions?

Same here with my Wife's Samsung and my Pixel. Wife turned Bluetooth off. I just uninstalled my phone as a key.

Force close it and restart the app. If that doesn’t work then uninstall and reinstall.

It's the #1 battery user on my iPhone.

This started happening to me on my iPhone about 4 weeks ago. It got to the point that it was using about 40% of my battery each day on the background activity. I've had to change my settings so it can't run in the background. I now have to click on the app and let it start up to get into my car and start it using PAAK. I've been using the PAAK seamlessly for 3.5 years before this change.

Ford app must be using less than 1% on my phone, because it’s not on the list of battery users. But I guess it’s because I don’t use PAAK? Unlock at walk-up works fine. When you are at home or at work, can you just keep your phone further from the car? Or park the car further away?

I just saw that you wrote this. The car will eventually ignore close phone/key signals and sleep to prevent battery drain which will require you to press the lock button to wake it up. So the fact that you’re close to the vehicle shouldn’t matter.

my guess, again, is the app has gone rouge. It happens. Force close and reset should fix it.

Keep in mind that the % usage shown is the percent of what is used by all apps, not the percent of battery capacity. If you do very little with your phone, the Ford % will be very high. If you use your phone extensively for other apps, the Ford % will be lower. Even though in both cases, the power consumed by the Ford app is the same.

Thanks for the responses.

I’ve force closed and restarted my phone several times and I’m routinely running my battery down to 0%, so it’s using 25-35% of my battery capacity in a day with <30 minutes of driving.

it didn’t seem to be an issue for me until maybe 2 months ago. Wasn’t sure if others had the same issue.

Ah, so we're colour shaming now?

The draining issue is definitely tied into the Bluetooth. I turned the Bluetooth off in my phone and the ford app has been at 5% battery use since this morning.

Naturally, I could just turn it off everyday or not use PAAK, but surely there should be some way to keep my PAAK and not have it use 30% of my battery each day?
