My routine has been to leave my key fob inside the cabin of my garaged car at night. I do nothing to lock the doors...but occasionally the next day I cannot open the driver side car door. Thankfully, I have a second key fob nearby that opens it. What can be wrong with the first key fob?

Maybe the battery is weak?
In your situation (car in my secure garage), I leave the window open.

Hi fellow Greenbrae Mach E owner!
I leave my phone in the car when I go swim (hopefully hidden enough). The first few times I wanted to lock the car with the phone/Ford app, in the car, it wouldn't lock just pressing the button on the inside of the door. I had to use the key fob to "force" lock it. After a few times, the car learns that the phone will be in the car at that location, and will lock without a problem.
Not quite the same as your problem, but I did want to say HI. And, yes, set a pin code for the driver's door.

The car can be locked using the external button with the phone/fob inside the car.
I don’t think location affects the locking logic.

No, the car doesn't learn that you leave the fob in at a certain location.

Car will lock with a fob inside. Set a code and know it.

Well something is locking the doors, either walkaway lock or remote start. Don't use those features then.

Once a key fob is locked inside the vehicle, the RFA will ignore it for purposes of unlocking the exterior doors (otherwise it would be impossible to lock your key in your car). You must use a different key fob or unlock method once the doors are locked with a fob inside.

If a fob is detected inside the vehicle, the lock button on the inside of the door won't work. This is so you don't accidentally lock your key in your car. You must use a lock method external to the vehicle (such as [7-8] + [9-0]).

It is HIGHLY recommended that you set a personalized door entry code in case the doors don't unlock (and also a PAAK backup password). Locking key fobs inside vehicles should also be avoided, it's a bad habit that can cause vehicle theft.

so, i'm not sure from reading this thread, but you think he may want to set a code on the doorpad? :)

Yes. Every Mach-E owner should have an entry code set they’ll remember, because it comes in handy. Probably the most undervalued feature on a Ford.

Or he could just learn and memorize the factory door code. 🤷‍♂️🐩
