How do I charge at EA DCFC stations if I do not want to use Plug & Charge? I have tried using the app which tells you to plug in first, but this would activate the P&C feature. What is the most reliable way to get the station to work using the app or the screen on the station?

I apologize if this was already covered; if it was, I could not find it in this forum.

It takes a little time for the EA to access P&C. I get the app ready, plug in, then immediately authorize using the app.

You can turn off Plug and Charge in the Ford pass app, but even then you should activate with the app first, then plug in. Even with my Bolt, which does not have P&C, it always works reliably that way. EA has told me over the phone to ignore the instructions to plug in first, but they keep those instructions on the charger and in the app.

We turned off the P&C in the Mustang. At the charger, we plug in first.

Ignore what the app says and activate the selected charger first and THEN plug in. It works.
This is the correct answer no matter what anyone else says. All other gimmicks are a waste of time.

You don't even have to disable Plug & Charge. Initiate the session in the EA app first and then plug in - done, that easy. Nothing you have to do in the FP app or in the car. It will use the EA account instead of P&C. If you want to use P&C then just plug in, no app needed. This way you can do both, easily without all the jumping through hoops, disabling things etc, that other people are saying they do.

Also, to stop a DCFC at EA you have 3 easy options, push the button in the charge port, push the button on the handle of the charger or push stop on the charge unit display. For any of those, wait until you hear the car disengage the lock on the charger before pulling the charger out.

I just learned today that when EA app was not working due to poor connection (phone Internet or EA communication), NFC payment from EA app worked like a charm after plug-in first Many thanks to the Tesla driver who told me about the NFC option.

Just curious why you don’t want to use P&C?

Probably because you can get the lower Pass+ rate using the EA app. If you weren’t in a special experimental program that was only offered for a short time, P&C only charges you the higher Pass rate.
