I've always thought about doing vinyl stuff like this for my cars but I've never known the first place to do it, how to design it, and then it feels like too much work and I give up, haha.

Because it is a "temporary" modification, it is too expensive IMHO. I did it myself (both design and application) and around the 3 year mark it starts to look weathered. I simply apply the heat gun on it and peel it back off. Caution should be known that if you car sits outside for any length of time, those decals will forever be visible even after delamination of said material due to fading.

So in conclusion, if you have someone else do it, be prepared to fork out a few thousands of dollars and take a hit when trading it in (if it is fairly new).

Btw, I have done around 20 of these (just side decals and not full stripes) so I know first hand what I am getting into. Many people do this w/o knowing the long term effects. ?

I had mine done for $700 and then ceramic coated the whole car. Hoping that add to the longevity of them. I know they are probably not as good as painting them on, but they were originally decals on the old mustangs too. I usually keep my cars until the wheels fall off but I don’t know if the MME can live that long. They are built more like an iPhone that you will need to replace every few years rather than something you can just maintain and keep forever (I’ve had my 5.0 for over 29 years now).

Thank you both for the advice. I had no idea.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

These stripes look great! I doubt I'd do it, though. Would prefer to not draw too much more attention to an already attention grabbing vehicle!

Racing stripes [sic] were originally placed only on the side of the car with the steering wheel.

The original idea was to alert safety and fire personnel on what side of the car the driver was, so that they'd be attacking the car correctly in the event of a crash.

This musty fact is probably only available to those of us old enough to remember the 1950's.
