Taking a trip in the Mach-E is more enjoyable for me than the other option that I have, CR-V. But still more stressful - need to plan the stops, look for places to park at the destination, and make sure the speed doesn't affect the travel plan.

I prefer not to be stressed. I picked CR-V for the last trip (Detroit to Mackinaw) and will do it again.

Still, I missed my Mach-E :)

I guess that's supposed to be funny. I just found it stupid. Saw it floating around on X this morning.

I supposed it's not a horrible depiction of the MOTOR. The problem, of course, is powering it. They could make a similar meme about 1000 pound battery pack only taking you half as far as a 100 pound gas tank. And costing 100x as much.

I can drive non-stop from Fairbanks to Anchorage with my Expedition during the winter except for a quick rest stop. I can do the 350 miles in about 6 hours. Doubt that can be done in my Mach.
That’s not an electric motor problem. That’s a how we supply the electricity problem.

FYI, If you're not familiar with XKCD, there's always a hover-over text. A lot of times that provides more context or the punchline.

https://xkcd.com/2948

The hover-over text for this one is:
An idling gas engine may be annoyingly loud, but that's the price you pay for having WAY less torque available at a standstill.

And that's the point. In an automobile context, the motor alone is woefully incomplete. Need to address the whole powertrain, including the fuel.

Although maybe the meme isn't even about automobiles. It makes more sense if they're talking about a well pump or something, where it's a choice between a gas engine pump or an electric motor pump that just wires into the grid.

Once you make it mobile for long distance, the whole equation changes.

But I guess it's just trying to be funny. Haha.

Entire comic could be about trains.

You'd add maybe 2 hours to do that in a Mach-E, but the chargers are there.

(note, I just did Wasilla to Whitehorse this week, and yes, it took about 6 hours more than I'd have taken in an ICE car because three of the chargers I had to use were only 20kW, but with 100kW chargers it wouldn't have been too bad)

I think you miss the point. The Mach-E can charge at up to 150kW and at that speed each charging stop is reasonably quick. Yes, faster charging on the car would be good, but the limitation is more the available chargers than the car.

Charging infrastructure is part of the actual EV equation, yes. So is DCFC charging time. So is all the extra weight of the batteries. So is the 5-digit cost of the batteries. And more.

But the meme clearly wasn't interested in the actual EV equation.

Exactly! But normally hauling bikes and things that won’t fit into the Mach. Also chargers were not there until last year for what I would consider safe winter drive with the 90 mile gap with no electricity and unreliable chargers on the southern side of things. Plan to drive it this summer though.
