Plugged in my car last night and ten minutes in got an alert in the app that there's an issue with the charging. I went out to try re plugging it in but no dice. The LEDs at the charging port that normaly blink blue, were all red.
Am using the ford home charger which has the usualy blue LED.
When I turn on the car I get a service message (vehicle charge fault.
Scheduled an appointment at ford tomorrow morning.

Anyone encounter this or know what would cause this error?

Yep got the exact same thing yesterday. 4.2.2 installed while the car was charging which created this problem. I was hoping it would clear itself by leaving the car alone for a few minutes but no luck. Luckily I had more than enough charge to take it to the dealer. They are on it now. BTW when I get it back I’ll turn off the automatic software updates! I’m done with that!

I called my dealer for an update and they are replacing the car battery charger. Will keep you posted.

I run a software team. Would be pretty mind blowing if that was the issue. Lol, windows updates and car updates. No difference.
Will try the solution linked above and if no luck then off to dealership tomorrow.

Happened again to me today After a few days of working ok. The Ford portable unit worked ok.

called Autel and they said there was a wireless connection issue that would cause a problem.

doesn’t make sense to me but reset my router and reset Autel and it’s working well again.

one more fault and it’s a new EVSE for me.

Have we really gotten to the point where a WiFi glitch bricks your car? ?

In some ways this isn't new. It's just a new place for a glitch to happen. Back in the day, I let a friend help rebuild the top end of my Laser after the head gasket blew. They weren't paying attention and dropped a small nut. They couldn't find it, and didn't tell me about it. When we started up the vehicle, the rattle was incredible!

Bricking is done by humans one way or another, whether it's in software or wetware. The head gasket failure was due to another wetware glitch on the part of one of the designers of the casting tool...

I have a Tesla charger. I have charged my 2024 Mach E about every 7 to 10 days. I have the charge time set for midnight to 6 AM. I plugged in the cable about 8:30 PM. 45 minutes later I received an error message on my app. I unplugged the cable, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in.. Again I got the error message. After reading this thread, I set the charge from 90% to 100% the error did not appear again but started charging right away ignoring the charge time. The battery was charged to 100% by the morning. Will contact the Dealership Mondat.
