What I blast. I had such a great time and a great experience on this forum and with my Mach E (s).
I sold my 21 Mach E Premium AWD ER to an online buying service this week. The number was too good to pass up allowing me to have 9 months of totally free EV fun. I cannot say anything bad or negative about the MUSTANG Mach E. Its a great car and Ford hit it out of the park for their first Real EV. 15997 perfect miles with zero issues and 11200 miles on my previous 2021 Select AWD with the same. Awesome paint and fit/finish. My only advice is to not rely solely on PAAK. I got burned once with my Select and once with my Premium both times requiring a fob to be brought to me.
Other than that, a great all around EV. My next adventure is a 2022 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD I snagged before the loss of the tax credit from my local dealer. It's coming in 2 weeks and I am getting it in the wrapper, untouched (other than a charge). It will be coated with TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray the same day for sure. That made my Mustang glow.
I took the MME to my last local Ford show this past weekend. It brought more attention than ever! So many questions and "wow, I did not know Ford made an electric Mustang". I stood for 3 hours talking with folks who were genuinely interested and wanted to learn more. Sitting it in, revving the engine etc. My guess is $5 gas is finally making folks think about alternatives. I got more attention than a buddies new 22 GT PE parked two cars away from me in that amazing red.
Since new , Mi/kWh average was 2.9, including a brutally cold winter. My out of pocket cost (free charging at work) for driving 15997 miles was $154. I did not even use all of my Fordpass free charging. Worst Range was 135 miles at -5F and no preheat or pre-conditioning, just jumping in and going on a 90 mile round trip to dinner with 3 of us. Best was 320 miles.
Why the Hyundai you ask? First, one is immediately available (in a few weeks) at MSRP. I have a 2019 1st vintage Ioniq EV (28 kW) and it has been flawless for nearly 3 years and the lifetime battery warranty. A local friend and co-worker has an Ioniq 5 AWD he purchased around the same time as my Mach E. While I get 316 miles per summer charge from my Mach E, he has a very similar under 55 MPH commute, to the same place , and is getting 350-390 miles per charge through the summer. Also, his last 65 MPH highway trip from Maine to PA averaged 280 highway miles which nearly matches my Mach E's 270 but with a 16% smaller battery. With the heat pump in the Winter, he consistently saw 180-200+ miles of range per charge.. We actually did a range test, comparing my Mach E to his I5 on a 38 degree day at 70 MPH on Interstate 95/495 over 150 miles and he got a consistent 3.2 mi/kWH to my 2.7+ with the MME. Exact same speed and car/highway conditions (temperature) except he had 2 people in the car to my one. (See Nick Armstrongās YouTube Channel). This real world range combined with the fast charging, will make my very seldom highway trips quicker. Finally a 5 year 60K bumper to bumper and 10 year 100K battery warranty is better than Ford's basic. I could have bought a Premium care for the MME but am very glad I did not.
I will use the Hyundai as a possible stepping stone until I can receive a 2023 Lighting PRO. That may be my next vehicle. I have driven one and completely love it, although I am concerned with Winter Range due to having to heat the big cab with a PTC. I cannot wait for some cold weather reviews. I wish it was offered with a heat pump.
I will hang around a while longer and probably post some pics of the Mach E glistening it's way on a car carrier in the next few weeks.
If anyone is looking for "bolt on" mounted Snows or CA Rt 1 Wheels and Tires, AOSK rear seat protectors, an OEM AWD badge, or the Ford Select/RTE 1 Aluminum Upgrade door sills let me know. They are listed in the Marketplace.
Attached is a video of the sun chasing my Mach E the other day. What a beautiful car.
