I hear your frustrations. My first two years have been pretty rough with the 23. Several things broke during the first 2 years and the car spent a few weeks in the shop.

I'm finally at a point where the issues died down and I can just drive it. I continue to deal with random SW bugs (drive mode switches), HF BC randomly refuses to kick in until I turn off/turn on the car, sometimes the car uses one set of chimes and sometimes the other set, etc. but I've resigned myself to just accept them. I hope I don't get any more OTAs that will introduce more bugs. I'm dreading the moment when my HVJB dies (probably at the most inconvenient time).

At the same time, I love the performance and how spacious it is (I can fit a carry on bag in the frunk!). I love the look of the MME, compared to the dopey Rivian's front due to the oval headlights, and the bleh look of Teslas. Most likely when my MME dies I won't get another Ford, but time will tell what the market will look like.

'23 Job 1 and so far I'm pretty happy with mine.

Happy with the Eibach lift kit and anti sway bars that made it sportier (reminds me of my 2000 BMW E53 SAV).

Took way longer to delivery (14 months after ordering).

Looks like I am jumping ship to the IH Scout Traveler EREV when it releases.

My sentiment is the same. Thanks to the terrible software, the inability to deliver even simple highly requested features like charging speed displayed in-vehicle, the HVBJB issues, the deceptive marketing around the GT's performance, and the little issues like the charge port door that opens in the car wash or walkaway lock that is unreliable at best, I'm done with Ford too.

My next vehicle will be from a company that has proven they can deliver on their promises of a software defined vehicle that improves over time, which is really only Tesla and Rivian.

Feels like deja vu. I thought I posted about not buying a 1st year, 1st model foray into the challenging bold new world of EV tech. Legacy makers are still struggling. The problem is the poor software development. If you cannot nail down SDV for EVs, you're just producing antiquated EVs hoping to hook in less informed consumers. But they will eventually and posts like these will pop up.

Rivian looks like good EV. See a few around despite the googly eyed fascia. But their reliability is atrocious. It comes out last in CR. Not sure if it will survive if the R2 doesn't materialize. So good luck to you.

The learning curve for companies producing reliable products sometimes takes too long . Reminds me of the VW bug. I owned 7 of them over several decades and "watched" VW slowly remove the problems from each preceding year. Like the gas heater in the trunk for defrost ! I use to scrape the windshield while I drove all the time. Trial and error, to eliminate problems, almost.
Ford will get the problems worked out.
My 23 MME has been the best vehicle I've owned. Fun to drive, no issues, no breakdowns or lockouts, just great transportation. I actually look forward to " riding" the Mustang.
Good luck with your new ride.

I've been enjoying my MME GT for three years now. Got mine on December of 2021.

Below are the things I had to contend with:

* The dealer trying to get $3K above the contract price upon delivery. Ford fixed that.
* 1 pedal driving stopped working. Dealer service promptly fixed that.
* HVJB replacement as part of the recall (never gave me any issues, but just in case)
* 12V battery quitted on me at almost 3 years without warning. Replaced under warranty.
* Recurring problem with Apple Carplay not connecting every now and then. Still happens.

Even though I dislike my dealers sales department, I have nothing but praise for their service department, which has contributed to my enjoyment of the car. So far I have spent $0 on maintenance.

Sorry that your overall experience was not as good a mine. Best luck with your new ride.

I had high hopes for R2 and made a deposit when it was released. But having seen it in person two weeks ago and judging by how small and insignificant it looked, I asked for my money back. I wish them well, but it sure looks to me that Rivian is better off becoming an auto software company for legacy OEMs, which is how VW is treating them as.

All the EV makers have pros/cons. For me, Ford's current lease deals [as of February 2025] are too good to pass up and if the depreciation trend continues I'll just bail when the lease ends. For someone paying cash/taking out a car loan, the math is likely different. I also intentionally waited when I got my prior vehicle in late 2020, timing my EV adoption for the 'right time' for me. I feel there was a lot of hype around EVs in the late 2010s and as any of us who've been on this planet for a bit know, anything 'hyped' is going to end up biting the people buying into that hype. That has sadly come to pass, whether through early adoption woes or steep depreciation.

That said, I'm genuinely grateful to all the early adopters who took the bullet for us buying the later models with most of the wrinkles worked out.

I wish you luck on your new Rivian, but I have to ask how many of your expectations were caused by word-of-mouth, vs communications with Ford? The reason I ask is your comment on the Power meter in the IPC. The feature you mentioned is only advertised for the GT trim, and not for all trims. Personally , I have a 2023 GT-PE, and my biggest gripe so far is the fact is that they "broke" the IPC with an OTA, and have yet to correct it. I used to have a different view for each drive mode, and now the only difference is the circuit-looking lines when I have Unbridled on. But I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your new EV :).

Well the feature was marked as "Looking into" in the once existent EAP forum which, Ford decided to kill for a "replacement" that has never happened.

Ever think that maybe it could be due to people not maintaining the confidentiality they agreed to?

Good luck with your Rivian! They've been on my radar since day one. Reliability concerns aside, they seem to have the right recipe for a highly capable, sought-after and enjoyable EV. Although their current offerings are out of my price point, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the R2 and R3/R3X! I'm, quite literally, betting on them to not only survive, but to thrive as an BEV automaker in the coming years.

enjoy the rivian! i rode in my buddies new (v2) R1T recently and it's definitely a nice truck. very luxurious inside and from what i've read, quite a few bugs/fixed since v1.

definitely 21 job1 folks took the majority of the hits (i know, i was one) but still loved my 21 premium RWD for what it was. an early challenger to the model y when there really weren't any others, and still had things like a front instrument panel, buttons, etc and looked bad ass. only replaced it with a 23 gt because i was rear ended but otherwise would've kept it. got it for $39k when i bought it and was the nicest car we've ever had.

rivian is another level, price and thus luxury-wise. i'm not convinced they're reliable yet though. my buddies trunk bed had missing parts for the underbelly cover or something, so they're still in the teething stages in my opinion.

if i could afford it, i'd consider the EV macan. honestly it looks a bit generic blob but i trust it drives/handles like a porsche though.

There are very few things on confidential forums that are meant to be confidential in name only.

In any event I wish you well with the Rivian. I genuinely hope it meets your expectations and needs. Good luck.
