According to my Mach E’s service reports it is also a Truck.

I’m not convinced Ford thinks they make anything besides trucks.
A few years back, Ford declared that they were abandoning ordinary passenger cars and were only going to make trucks, SUVs, and Mustang. I was kind of sad because I was looking forward to a fully electric car. The compliance SUV wasn’t all that exciting, but then they renamed it and re-did stuff to make it more fun. Too bad they kept the compliance HVBJB and other supporting systems. ??

Pony Car class yes. The 1964 Pontiac GTO was the father of the Musclecar class. Musclecars are mid-sized cars. Pony Cars are compacts. Both have large engines. ??
Thanks for the clarification! Both released in the same decade, somehow got a little mixed up!

You can ascertain what Farley said, and you can ascertain what some PR mouthpiece communication director claims he meant.
I beg to differ with you when it comes to brushing off Emma Bergg as "some PR mouthpiece". I have communicated with her before, and I believe that she is a person with integrity. I have also secured an answer from Darren Palmer, who holds the position of Vice President Global EV Programs. He says the same as Emma Bergg: "I believe he means an all electric Mustang Coupe." Would you brush off him too, or can we conclude that this explanation is the logical one? Ford will not build an all electric Mustang Coupe, but they have built an all electric Mustang crossover.

to the Mustang fighter plane theme from which the Mustang car was imagined
This is not true. The name of a concept car, "Ford Mustang Experimental Sports car" was derived from the P-51 fighter plane, but the 1964 1/2 car took its name from the horse.

Which generation? ???
I actually think the MME is part of the 7th generation. There are design elements carried over from the MME to the S650. The Exterior Designer (Chris Walter) is the same.

Interesting observation, had not noticed that.

I wonder if they ever considered naming it a Thunderbird Mach-E.
I don't think so. But Henry Ford II suggested Thunderbird II as the name for the original Mustang. "Nobody else liked that one", Lee Iacocca said.

In about 9 years I think Farley will be eating his words. Can you imagine Ford not selling the Mustang in California? The only other alternative would be that the CA lawmakers switch their position on the 2035 all EV new car mandate (which could happen, but it’s unlikely). ??

Looking at the ICE Mustang sales, I have no problem imagining Ford dropping it all together.

All trucks, all the time. Probably why my dealership service department lists it as a Mustang Mach E Truck.

Why is it unlikely?
I mean CARB switching position?

It really wasn't that long ago that the now 2035 mandates were 2030 mandates. So isn't pushing it out 5 years technically a switch?

And speaking of that 5 year push, they also watered it down considerably. ICE can pretty much be underneath every brand new car as long as it also has a charge port.
Heck, a 2021 F150 Powerboost will be legal 14 years later if the battery size and traction motor grows a bit.

And I think 3/4 ton and up won't even need a battery.

I have no crystal ball, of course, but I wouldn't etch the current 2035 mandates into clay, much less stone. :)

Funny how money always determines these kinds of things the closer the timeclock gets to a deadline.
