A friend of mine just got a Mach-E (long story!). But, it has got me thinking.

As this is Ford's first edition electric Mustang, is it worth it or wait? Merely curious if the volume of issues that people talk about, out weigh the 'joy' and 'functionality' of the Mach-E?

Thanks
“First Edition” is a limited trim level. Yes, it’s worth getting that if you go Grabber Blue (only available on FEs and GTs).

Assume you are referring to first year model. Yes, it’s awesome, as long as you can tolerate the bugs. Chief bugs I’ve experienced:
- DCFC and “Plug & Charge” problems are mostly worked out now.
- Most driver instrument panels buzz like a cheap TV. Unknown whether newer builds are sourcing a better screen yet. It may not bother you.
- PAAK works ok, but still pretty buggy. You may not even use it.
- Sync works ok, but it is buggy and laggy. Most of the bugs are minor. It’s going to depend upon how annoyed you get by minor bugs that Ford should have fixed by now.
- FordPass isn’t great, but it’s serviceable. Not a reason to hold off buying the car.
- There is troublesome bug with certain doors not automatically unlocking upon approach until you first open a different door. The problem seems to move around and not everyone has it. It is probably the weirdest bug to date. Very annoying, but you may not even experience it.

Everything else you’re seeing here is EXTREMELY RARE STUFF you could experience with any new vehicle.

The real question is, with supply issues and prices going through the roof, whether it is worth it to buy a new car or wait for next year. I was lucky to grab mine at xplan off the lot back in March. And I don’t regret that a bit.

My PaaK worked initially, now it doesn't at all. FordPass says it's active, but I can stand at my car all day trying to get my door to open with PaaK and nothing will happen. I think Ford screwed up by relying on a device like a cell phone with so many possible variations.
Not using the FOB is a pain. That said, the following will generally get it working again for me:
1 . Close the ford pass app
2. disable blue tooth on the phone
3. turn blue tooth back on
4. and then launch Ford pass.

Especially steps 2 and 3.

I'm just not doing that level of futzing around with my MME, that is ridiculous and either the Phone works as reliable as a FOB or just get us a second FOB @Ford Motor Company

I'll second the uniqueness, I get a lot of looks and questions. Enthusiast know what the car is right away, but the smartest thing Ford did was make it a Mustang. Last night I was waiting for my wife at her hair dresser and apparently I caught several hair dressers attention because "they didn't know a Mustang was also a sport SUV" Apparently they saw me pull in across from the big glass windows and started talking about the 'sharp black mustang suv', My wife looked over and was oh ya that is my husband, it's electric too. No way that would have happened if I was a Ford Escape or something else. Brand sells

I went for the first year for several reasons. 1. This car is absolutely bad ass to look at and drive! 2. It's all electric! I hate gas stations. 3. Tax incentives. I like the idea of getting a tax break the size of children...lol! Yes, I pay enough taxes to get the full break. 4. Who doesn't love having something almost no one has right now? I love my MME and have found this forum super fun and helpful.?

Thanks! Best money ever spent...that garage floor.? Take notice of Darth Vader and the death star behind my MME...also named Vader.? Facing the MME is my Corvette racing skull.

Loving the garage floor. Rather similar to mine...

That said, I have zero use for PaaK since my house keys are always with me when I leave home, and adding a fob to my key ring is something I'm used to. A second fob to keep in a safe place at home would've been nice though.
Too many times my Wife has had to use the door code to get in with the PAAK in her purse! Our dealer promised to provide us another FOB but so far nothing but excuses! The latest being that their key guy doesn’t know how to program one for the MME!

Well THAT sounds like epic BS. There's no way the MME fob is at all different than any other fob. Is this guy really saying he can program an Explorer fob but not MME?

6000 miles on mine and love it. I knew being an early adopter would have its issues. See my Deep Sleep thread. And the best part is Ford has backed up the issues with their superb customer service.

The looks not only in parking lots but on freeways are amazing. I've had multiple people stop and talk to me about it. I've had instances where I chat with people for almost an hour about it and show them the entire thing. I talked one friend out of a Y and into an MME.

If you're not into being the tester and finding things wrong with the car, I would wait until a later model. The Mustang Mach E can only get better over time!!

We went to a brewery last weekend (Ghost River in Memphis), and parked at a lot across the street. Went in to get my beer, and the bartender asked, "Is that the electric Mustang???" I paused for a second because I didn't realize he could see where I parked. Just funny how it turns heads even when you think no one will even see it, but he managed to see it through the window and in the parking lot.

Also, I found out the same weekend there's another guy driving an MME around midtown Memphis according to a friend of mine. Is there a special wave when I eventually pass him like the Jeep people have?

Those are four great reasons to be an early adopter. I agree with all of them. I also love the garage floor. I’m going to get one of those… in my next house.

I decided to give it another try, so I totally removed my phone from PaaK and went through the process to add it back. Before it started, it tried to claim my phone (Galaxy Z Fold2, pretty state of the art ...) may not be fully compatible ... ok, don't remember it saying that last time, so maybe they added some CYA language to the app to explain away why it doesn't work at times. After that, the process went smoothly until it asked me for a backup start code ... and it just would not work. I typed in the long-ass code about 5 times trying over and over, to no avail -- it claimed it could not find the phone I had just added (and I did have my key fob on me).

So while it shows in my app as a key, the car can't find it, and it doesn't work as a key. I opened my door with the door code and sat inside, but would not ask me for a start passcode (I guess because it glitched out during setup). This is so half-baked, I can't believe people out there are comfortable relying on it.

… until it’s a law enforcement officer giving you side eye because they want to get a closer look at the car. ?‍♂
