First Tow 😢

Had my first tow yesterday after a blowout on the rear passenger tire driving on the 405 to Disneyland. Called Ford roadside and my State Farm roadside at the same time. State Farm had someone there in 30 min. Ford was going to be over 90 min. Not having a spare sucks! Towed to the closet dealership because they said they had the tire in stock and I was hoping I could use my points towards the tire. Got there and they, in fact, did not have the tire . Had to rent a car to get to Disneyland and I’m now waiting the the tire to be delivered. Anyone tried the small spare kits?

Hopefully not likely! It is the second tire issue I’ve had. Got a screw in it going to a Rams game but it was a slow leak and busted out the pump that comes with the car. Got the low air notification while on the freeway and pulled off then aired up.

Update- Got the car back and driving back home. Wheel was fine. Only a 3 hr delay for Disneyland and $250 for the tire and car rental I was able to use my Ford Reward points towards the tire and that took care of a 1/3 of the price.

Oof, that sucks. Might be a worthy choice of finding a mustang spare to keep on hand. This is one example of why having a persistent TPMS gauge showing tire pressures is important. Most punctures don't show up until it's too late. Catastrophic failures are quite rare. Quiet leaks are the biggest culprit. What'd ya hit?

No idea. Never saw anything. Could of just busted the bead then spit the tire with the rim. I didn’t hear anything either. I noticed the TPMS gauge before anything. I saw 19 psi then 4psi then zero. Rear tire so I didn’t get much movement out of it.

Damn, that sucks. Factory tires I take it? I didn't even have 1k miles on my truck's tires when a screw got into the sidewall. Took it to discount tire and they replaced it for 'free' after I bought warranties for each tire. The total was 2/3 of the cost of the new tire they gave me, now I've got free replacement warranties on all of the others. Can't believe the dealer suckered you in saying they had your replacement on-hand. Scratch that, that's right up the alley of most stealerships.

Curious what gear setting you used to tow? I've read to put in neutral then push down the L - center of the gear setting dial. Yes/No?

Make sure they price matched the tire, as Ford has a guarantee - you have 30 days after to bring that up.
