My mum is thinking about adding an inexpensive second vehicle. We looked at a 2023 Fisker Ocean One. Nicely equipped rides nice etc. only 3300 miles and asking $22K.

My biggest concern is their bankruptcy if they file chapter 7 and or bought out my concern are updates and maintenance. I told
My mum not worth the risk for the vehicle becoming a brick.

Any thoughts?

It's funny, I have 2 co-workers who waited years with reservations for their Fiskers and when they got it, they got the bad fiscal news of recent....

Now, they are both keeping them in the garage and hoping they will appreciate in value as time goes on.

I'd only get one to play with - never to rely on and certainly not to invest...

Same. We all know MME has OTA updates but what if Ford filed chapter 7. We’d be sunk.

I told my mum that these are basically computers on wheels ones the software is obsolete you’re sort of sunk. It’s. a handsome car but that’s my biggest concern

For your mother to buy one (not to mention anyone) would be a huge risk IMO. Forget about software updates, what about mechanical repairs? No way would I buy one. I wouldn't even take a free one.

The Ocean has really glitchy software. So probably to be avoided. Especially used. If a pre owned car is in the equation… Why not a Mach E?

She was attracted by the price. She’s just at the vet begging stages

According to what I’ve read in the news, there are almost no spare parts available, and the software toolkit necessary to diagnose and treat any software problems isn’t available.
Basically, if you ever have a problem you won’t be able to fix it.
May I suggest something like the Honda Insight? Civic exterior, Accord interior, autopilot (touring trim) and 50mpg. Not zero emission, but close enough.

Pretty soon there will be a bunch on the market at a lower price point

My buddy has 2 Chevy Bolt EUVs and loves em. Pretty close in price and for a few bucks more mom could get a brand new one . If she's near you quite a few show up on Edmunds in that area . New and used .
MAY qualify for tax credit also
