If I were you, I’d be grateful that it’s totaled. There is no such thing as repairing to original condition, unless you don’t know enough about cars. This is a performance automobile and the idea that a body shop and a mechanic will bring it back to its original glory is laughable. One would be lucky if a mechanic can change tires without damaging the battery frame!!Thank you all, I was expecting the good news from the insurance company, and they came with bad news, that the vehicle might no be repairable, I love the GT, now we went down from 3 Ford EVs to 2, my wife has the Mach E Premium and I drive the Lightning Flash.
Hah! I unfortunately have "loaned" my Mach E to my teenage son for what I thought was a short term issue. Luckily he is a pretty safe, slow driver. His Kia Niro EV has had repeated motor issues, supposedly covered under warranty. FYI - do NOT ever buy a Kia/Hyundai, especially an EV. They do not honor warranties, and their legal department fights everything and gives nothing. We're coming up on 1 year without being able to regularly drive the Kia while we wait.I shake my head when I see these posts. Total guessing on 99% of them. No idea of what cannot be seen. Clearly that's an expensive accident, coupled with a upcoming enormous increase in premiums.
Gotta ask - how old is the son? I see quite a few people letting their kids drive their Mach-Es. If I had had one when my sons were in their late teens, no way in hell would I have let them drive it. My son is closer to 40 and he doesn't get to drive the Lightning when he is in town...
I've been reading the EV9 forums/FB, and quickly crossed it off my list for those exact reasons.Hah! i was very disappointed/upset when i was rear-ended and the insurance company decided to total it (had aftermarket suspension, extended warranty, blue cruise, etc) on my original 2021 premium std. but your insurance company might surprise you... feel free to challenge or ask for more if the amount they come up with after doing comps seems on the low side. my adjuster changed my car rating from average to excellent or whatever rating which gave it more value and thus gave me significantly more.... enough for me to upgrade to a 2023 GT PE.Thank you all, I was expecting the good news from the insurance company, and they came with bad news, that the vehicle might no be repairable, I love the GT, now we went down from 3 Ford EVs to 2, my wife has the Mach E Premium and I drive the Lightning Flash.
Just because the insurance company won’t pay for all of the repairs doesn’t mean it’s not fixable. It just means you’d be out of pocket for the remainder. With a newer car, it is probably best to go with their opinion. But with an older, or high mileage car, sometimes they lowball the value of the car. You might want to actually get it back on the road. Then you just take what the insurance company gives you, take the car back, and go and get it fixed.Thank you all, I was expecting the good news from the insurance company, and they came with bad news, that the vehicle might no be repairable, I love the GT, now we went down from 3 Ford EVs to 2, my wife has the Mach E Premium and I drive the Lightning Flash.
