Well, it got to a brisk 40 degrees F here in Florida last night and went for a drive(car wasn’t plugged in last night) this morning in my July build Premium 4X and the car is making the weird sounding startup sounds and dings that come from the IPC and not the speakers. I though hmm, that’s weird, so key off and then get back in and turn on.

A very brief message about a Pedestrian Sounder fault (goes away immediately) comes up. Everything else is working fine, audio system sounds great so it’s not DSP issue, subwoofer sounds good. Pedestrian sounder is working.

Take it for a 20 minute drive and I can see the widget is giving me 15v on the battery which is good cause it means it’s charging. Take it home and do a restart and everything is back to normal.

So this definitely seems like an issue where the 12v got a little lower than it should be but it seems the vehicle recovered as it should. I plugged in to the 240v to help it along. Gonna make sure it stays plugged in on cold nights now, even in Florida!

I suggest you get Car Scanner and an ODBII Bluetooth reader and check the 12V battery SoC. It is very easy to check using that method and you can see how your LVB is maintained and whether or not the SoC is lower than it should be. It is not as good as measuring the battery directly with a multimeter, but a lot easier and good enough to see if there could be something to worry about in that area.

Thanks, which brand do you recommend? Also what’s the low threshold of SoC of where it should be?

Bundle up, going down into the 30’s tonight! I am using the Innova 3721 as pictured in another LVB thread currently circulating around here.

People take off their jackets when it gets that warm around here.
That’s cause you’re from hearty Nordic and Scottish stock. Those of us who couldn’t cut shorts and t-shirts in 40f weather moved to the tropics. We’re proud of our parkas when the temps plunge into the mid 50’s!

People going to the grocery store here early (pre 7:30 am) are often in shorts, flip flops (aka slippahs) and a hoodie. Cause it’s 53 F! ;)

I have the OBDLink MX and works well with the Mach-E and has no battery drain leaving on all the time. It's also supposed to work with Ford Scan (although I have not tried it yet)

Car scanner seems to be an Android only app, is there an app for iPhones that people recommend? Also, is it the case that Forscan is actually free, at least for much of the functionality that is needed for the Mach e? From websites it seems that a basic license doesn’t cost anything.

Car Scanner is available for iOS too.

FORScan is free, but you need to buy an extended license to make certain changes to the MME config files. It’s only $10 a year, or you can use a free trial for 60 days.

From your description of the symptoms, I don't think it fair to assume this is a 12V battery issue. It could easily be a software bug, a lost network packet, etc.
Well I was going from this is the first cold night since I got it, those errors seemed really weird which is what seems to happen with LVB SoC. Hasn’t done it since, so that’s good whatever it is!
