We bought a 2023 MME Premier Edition in November. We have never been able to get the hatch to open using a foot. I've perused quite a few posts here on this subject, but no luck. So, then I thought maybe our car doesn't have that feature. I posted a private message to Ford, which of course was mostly a waste of time. Either they don't read the question you are asking, or they are just stuck on telling you to take the car to your dealer. But after about a half dozen messages back and forth, someone gave me a call.

The lady who called me didn't really seem to have much useful knowledge, but she finally said if that feature did not specifically appear on the window sticker, then the car did not have it. Sounds kind of lame, but maybe?

Does anyone know if "foot open" is an option on the Premier Edition?

Thanks.

You don't have it. It was discontinued in 2022.

2023 model year deleted the foot activated hatch. Wish I had ask this same question sooner. The sticker on the back fooled me.
It fooled us too. Oh well.

One of Ford's frustrating "de-contenting" decisions. Confoundingly, the hardware is present on the 22s but it’s disabled in software. I guess at least us 22 owners can enable it in Forscan.

I ran into the same issue I tried and failed , and I feel like they should not have that icon on the trunk. If it is not a useful feature in the vehicle, I am very disappointed with Ford on how they handle things and you are right every time you call customer service they tell you to refer to the dealer and most dealerships have no clue on how to respond the dealership tells you to call customer service customer service tells you to call ford. It is a unending loop of misinformation.

I was told that it is not hands-free. It is power liftgate because it lifts up by itself when you push the button hands-free would be when you can use the kick feature which is not available in the 2023, but when I called, I did get a representative to say the hardware is there. We just have to have it enabled at a dealership. Of course the dealership said they could charge to see if the hardware is there and enable it, but at the end of the day I still had no luck .

Is there a way to add this aftermarket?

Buyers confuse the Automated Tailgate feature with the Foot-Activated Tailgate feature that was eliminated in ‘22. ***SURPRISE***!

Kick to open is really nice, I use it a lot, it’s sometimes a little slow, and I’d say for kick to close it may not work 5 percent of the time.

We love it. We had it on our Escapes for 10 years before that. Didn't realize how useful it would be.

On the Escape it was highly dependable (almost no kick fails). On the Mach-E is more spotty, but I don't think it's the kick sensor, it's the fob sensor. It's very weak in this car, not just for the liftgate but even just getting in the doors. Stand a few feet one way of the other and the signal can get blocked. But then I finally turned PAAK on and haven't noticed a fail since. I still carry a fob, but carrying two auth signals for redundancy (fob + PAAK) seems to fix that.

What sticker in the back? My 2021 has no stickers on the back other than the registration stickers from DMV on the license plate. ?‍♂?
