If I go visit someone, there is no way they are going to let me move their dryer or range so I can plug in my car. ?
No you can use the 120 home charger adapter or go and use one of your free charges from Ford.

at home to change it is rather inexpensive

It was a joke because the folks were talking about having a range or dryer outlet. I would suspect most people don't have spares unless it's specifically for an electric car. Or maybe a welder. Has to be a small percentage though.

I had an electrician turn a 120 in my garage to a 220 with a 60 AMP breaker. The total was about $25 in parts and 1 hour of times. Under $100 for the whole thing. I did give him two diet Coke’s and 2 bottles of water. That might have helped the price a bit.

You were lucky. Most people don't have two separate 120V circuits (opposite phases) totally unused in their garage. Most people only have one 120V circuit in their garage, and it's often being used (the whole point of having outlets in the garage).

Actually many do have a 2nd circuit -- for the garage door opener. But they usually want to keep that in use for the garage door opener.

Some people have their main panel in the garage. That's fairly inexpensive to run a 240 circuit from a few feet away. But most aren't that fortunate. Running it from a panel on the outside of the house is usually in the $500-$1000 range. Mine was about $900.

had you offered extra bottles of water and Diet Coke you might have saved a bunch. I had two sockets on the same breaker. He separated them and did just the one. If you are creative it is not that expensive. One just has to be creative.

Our main panel is in the garage. The electrician had all of a 39 inch run to put in a 60 amp capable line. Made things much easier if ever go that route (it has a 50 amp c.b. and outlet/EVSE on it atm). We were building the house when it was done so it was even easier.

The mobile charger is most likely capable of a wide variety of configuration modes. The problem is that Ford isn't offering connectors for them, yet, other than the two that ship with the car.

In Europe, they offer a wide variety. Here is the page for Switzerland, for example:

That's because in Europe, different countries have different plugs. They should all be around 220V.

They vary from 220-240V but they are also different amperages. Much like here in North America.

Ford sells a variety of connectors to suit different plug shapes, but also different circuit amperage maximums (8, 10, 13, and 20). The mobile charger must be getting a signal from the connector in order to not exceed the corresponding socket's current limit.

Grants awarded for more electric vehicle charging stations
Associated Press
Lansing – More electric vehicle fast-charging stations are coming to Michigan.
The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy said more than $448,000 in grants have been awarded for six new charging locations and three expansions of previous projects.

The sites are in Mount Pleasant, Kalamazoo, Shelby Township, Marlette, Grand Rapids, Owosso, Marshall, Indian River and Northville.
They will be part of a network of direct current fast chargers the agency is partially funding as part of its Charge Up Michigan Program. The program offers up to $70,000 per charging station.
Funding is through Michigan’s allocation from the Volkswagen diesel settlement. The state’s goal is to have the network completed by 2030.
In August, EGLE awarded nearly $1.7 million in grants for 36 DC fast-charging stations with a total of 76 plug-in points for automobiles and light-utility vehicles.

Wish Illinois had something like that but we’re broke.

There's no moving a dryer. You just unplug it while charging. A lot of laundry rooms are right off the garage.
