Yeah, the Transit Connect is a great move. Used a lot for smaller runs, a lot of sitting, a lot of accessories to run typically depending on the work used, etc. Being able to keep running A/C or heat without running an engine.

I wish we had an announcement for the BEV Explorer. I really want one of those.

Love all the commenters dumping on Ford . Personally, based on my experience with the MME, I am pretty optimistic about Ford's future plans. Even if my next EV is not a Ford, I'm still rooting for them.

Yeah, the comments are amusing. "Mach E does not appeal to many people the name and design is confusing for many." I think this car makes total sense. But maybe that's because I think it's the perfect mid-life crisis soccer parent (or any sport, really) "I want a fun car but need a practical one" car. 😁

Yeah, anyone confused by the name and styling likely already have enough issues they are working through, like why don't we send a space shuttle mission to the sun at night when it's dark there.

Sad to see the Escape go. Those were our vehicles for 20 years. Great all-around vehicles. I'm a little surprised they're not keeping the PHEV as with the right battery cells it can get the full $7500 tax credit. That's a huge advantage on a $40k car. PHEVs could be poised for a big decade in the US.

But another article said 2025, so still a few more years. And they may bring it bcck anyway.

The automotive world will be electric eventually. The interesting question to me is how legacy companies survive the transition... go fast? go slow? either way, we will see a lot of changes in the next decade. The MME is a great first gen car... getting to gen 3 will be interesting to watch.

EV adoption is a really regional thing for now. California looks nothing like the upper midwest in so many ways.

Agree on being sad on the Escape, and also a bit surprised. You could argue the two row CUV segment is pretty crowded as-is, and the MME does a decent job of filling that need for the Ford portfolio and Ford still gets a lot of volume on Escape sales. The Escape is also about the cheapest entry point into the Ford family and a first car for a lot of college age kids.

Of course Ford has all that info and maybe this will be part of a platform shift for Ford in the future and they will manage to keep the price point where it's an attractive offering. Of the vehicles making the change, it is the one I am most eager to hear their plan for.

I predict that we will see an EV Navigator before an EV Explorer, especially with GM's announced EV Escelade on the doorstep.

Did you watch this video?

Jim Farley was talking about an upcoming BEV SUV: Expedition space inside of an Explorer size vehicle.

It's in @Mach-E VLOG and @Liv's video

I won't believe the ICE Escape is being discontinued until I see the upcoming UAW contract proposals, and see the product plans for the Louisville plant. Ford would be crazy to just axe one of its most affordable vehicles.

Of course, I said the same thing after they announced the end of the Fiesta, Focus and Fusion.

Thank you! It's in my YouTube subscriptions and just haven't gotten to it yet, now have all the more reason, that's great to hear. Our second vehicle is an F-150 PowerBoost, and aside from normal truck duties, it's also our road tripper for anything more than 5 hours. I really want Ford to give me a larger BEV to move to and that certainly sounds promising.

I'm going to hold out for an Escort EV.
Vehicle size determines EV battery size, which determines range, cabin climate, etc. At least with the current battery chemistries. EVs the size of Fiesta, Escort, Escape and similar models by other automakers will have extremely limited range therefore limited or specific functionality appeal. A good friend has an early Hyundai Ionic EV, which as a small vehicle has limited range. It works for him because he drives 10-15 miles/day 99% of the time.

The positive: Most people drive w/in 25-30 miles of home so smaller vehicles could be a good fit for most people.

I actually love the look and size of the European version. Wish that would come to the US. my garage clearance is only around 74" so I can't put a large vehicle in there to charge.

So much seems to depend on Ford's confidence in its ability to get BEVs production costs down. Knowing I have driven 46 miles a day for past 15 months, I would say you could make a 150 mile range (real world range not EPA) Escape like BEV with a cheaper LFP. What did the Escape start at?
