I could be wrong but I believe you have to live in an area deemed rural. If you go to the instructions for the IRS Form, there should be a link to determine if you fall in that area.

I just replaced my 14-year old BOSCH EVSE with an Emporia EVSE after reading several glowing reviews here and watching it win the "best EVSE" on the "State of Charge" YouTube channel.

The ability to charge with only excess solar (which requires an emporia vue load monitor to be installed as well: those are ~$200) is fantastic, and depending on your electrical billing plan, may pay for itself in a month or two. The vue certainly isn't required, but if your electrical bill is north of $100/mo, it may help you find vampire loads.

Also: Emporia's customer support is outstanding. I've had several questions about products, setup and features, and all were answered within a day or two.

Question about the Grizzl-e Classic: I decided to buy a 3rd-party charger after reading about reliability problems with the Ford Mobile Charger (it's worked fine for me thus far, with only two re-boots necessary in 15 months). I also wanted to get 40A charging and the Ford mobile is 32A...

The Grizzl-e arrived today and, while it charged the MachE, there was no charging session shown on the FordPass App, nor any log of the charge in the Charge Logs section! No ability to ask it to charge to 100% when the normal charge limit is 90%.

I thought that any charger that speaks the J1772 charging protocol with the car would be fine, but apparently not.

Q: Do any of the 3rd-party chargers play nice with FordPass and show the charging status/info?
Q: Does the Grizzl-e Smart model work better with FordPass?

I chose the Classic because I assumed that FordPass would show all the charging data.... I guess not!

I have the Grizzl-e Classic and it works fine with fordpass with the features you describe. Have you turned off sharing in car? That will cause the symptoms you describe.

I just bought my MME 2 weeks ago and Ford set me a code to use to order their 48 amp charger at no charge. It lists for $799. I received it, have it mounted and I’m just waiting for the electrician to run a circuit to it. Based on the price (free), I’ll give it a try.
How does one get a ‘free’ charger from Ford?

How does one get a ‘free’ charger from Ford?
I wish I knew, I received a call from my Dealership letting me know I would be getting an email from Ford with a code for a free 48 amp charger and I did. I suggest you reach out to your dealership and ask them about it.

I thought I would report that I just updated to the new 5.0 version of FordPass and now, finally, my Grizzl-e Classic charge session showed up in the App! It allows for setting a new charge limit, although they took away the "Charge to 100%" button, that would override the limit on that session only. They should re-install that. It does provide charging details and it even logged the session in the Charge History tab - that was missing many previous sessions with the Ford Charger. So, my problem is solved... until they install a new bug any minute now! ;-)

Just tried it now and it’s not working.

Update:
It doesn’t work on iOS, but it worked on android.
works for me on iOS — just used it to change from 85% to 100%

thanks. my utility is giving me 50% off up to $700 for the cost of the charger and installation. So I have some room to play. My install of the nema 14-50 from my breaker cost ~$900.

Do you like the chargepoint? that is one i was considering, but was $150 more than the juicebox
You may know this but make sure you have a good NEMA plug. Not a cheap one from local home improvement store.
