Why pay for Ford Navigation when I can use google maps like I always do anyway. Now that Ev charging is on google I don’t see a need to pay for Ford navigation

I am thinking the same, my maps expired this month, so I switched to AA last month, I have found no reason to pay for the ford nav yet.

My only gripe is start up time, if I was the last driver it is very fast, but my wife and I trade off cars all the time, so it tries to connect to her, and takes about 3min down the road before it fully boots up.

Same. My complimentary subscription to built-in nav expires in a couple of weeks and I use Google Maps via Android Auto, which works great with all the EV integration. It wasn't clear that if I let the built-in nav expire, would I miss anything? So I decided to let it expire and see if there's anything I miss. Only if I miss something would I then consider subscribing.

That is a conclusion that many are coming to. Then there are those that using a phone with Android Auto isn't something they are comfortable with.

I have been using Apple Maps on my car since July of 21 and it has been amazing. Not only does it link to charging stations but it has always kept the charge status as part of the maps

I feel the same way you do. This is a thing that gas cars made money on and I'm surprised that an EV manufacture would do the same when they have over-the-air-updates.
I use Waze, so they can take this plan and shove it.

Been experimenting with this and the main benefits I see are..
  • Map instantly available vs occasional delay in connecting to the phone for CarPlay or Android Auto
  • CarPlay burns through the phone battery when running navigation and the wireless charger is useless during this time. Charges just fine when running the OEM nav

I think ford should package all these connected services, including bc, into one very low-cost monthly bundle (like $25/month). I hope the lululemon guy who ford hired to manage this shit will reach that conclusion. Enough with this bullshit. The connected experience is a way to retain customers, not make money. Selling hardware is how a car company makes money. There are too many idiot consultants floating around Detroit (I know many of them). They need to get kicked out, along with their stupid ideas.

I would add one: rural areas (and occasionally very dense urban) with poor cell reception.

My subscription ended three months ago in December. I haven’t missed Ford Navigation as I never use it. I rely on Apple, Google and Waze. The only exception would be areas where there isn’t cell access. Not enough to justify paying for it.

What if you used the USB port when you are using CarPlay? Will you lose any charge?

FWIW, both Apple and Google have offline maps capability. Provided you have sufficient storage on your phone, can download a pretty large area for offline use. Works great!

They do it all for wall street analysts bc wall street loves to hear companies monitizing their customers through various services.
