I ordered on July 21st and still don't have a build date. Call my dealer and they are completely useless, say they'll look into why I haven't gotten a build date and then get a call back saying they don't know anything.

There are things that Ford can't control and I understand that. What I can't understand is how people who ordered months after me are getting build dates and their cars while I've heard nothing. This has taken all of the fun out of the car buying process. Even if I get a build date this week it will be about a year since my order date to me actually getting my car. Again, if everyone was waiting a year then thats what it is. But thats not the case. Why should I even want a car from a company that can't simply prioritize the oldest orders first? The lack of contact or any updates at all is just maddening.

I'm going test driving cars this weekend and most likely going to cancel my order. Primarily because I'm just sick of waiting on a car that they seem to have no interest is selling to me. Fortunately I'm at the point in my life where I can just go get the car I want and pay for it up front. If Ford doesn't want my money thats fine with me. The F-150 I was planning on getting next year is being converted to a Ram or Toyota as well because I tend to hold grudges.

Cars being test driven this weekend

Genesis GV70
VW ID.4
Maybe the Kia/Hyundai electric

Any other suggestions?

You're anger is not directed in the proper place. Your dealership isn't being truthful with you. If you place an order in July, and it hasn't been scheduled, it's likely because your dealership has no allocation left, and they aren't telling you that.

Ford doesn't sell to you, they sell to the dealership. You placed an order, like most people, not understanding that when you placed an order has little to do with your priority. Your dealership then didn't explain that, because it's in their best interest not to.

If you buy another car, and then buy a different truck, it won't impact Ford in the slightest. You might want to contact your dealership's owner or GM and make sure they know why you're pulling business from them. They may or may not care though.

No suggestions sorry, Ford does not care either.

No patience no MME, it's that simple.

Good luck!

Oh and don't assume these don't have delays or markups.

Genesis GV70 (NOT AN EV)
VW ID.4 (You are going to have to order it) - very few for sale off the lot
Maybe the Kia/Hyundai electric - Also limited supply

The car I ordered on May 2, 2021 came in on Jan 4, 2022. 8 months.

I'd look for a canceled order. I did and bought one in early Sept. I'm very glad I did.

Kia EV6 are going for over MSRP. They are all in demand.

I wouldn't buy at the top of the market if you don't need to.

Ok, thats fine. But Ford is the company that has dealership allocation. I don't have the time to care about their internal policies. Maybe Ford doesn't care that I'll go get another car but as a buyer thats all the influence I have.

They don't.

And the dealer doesn't, because when that Mach-E is made, they'll see it for more than you were paying for it.

In the end, the only one that loses is you as you buy an inferior car.

How is a GV70 an inferior car? It runs on gas, but so does almost every car sold today. Can drive it from Minneapolis to Chicago without even thinking about where I need to stop to charge. I like the Mach e, but I ordered it knowing that there are going to be a lot more great options to choose from within 3 years.

New builds show June delivery, if you are flexible on config you can get immediate or March delivery.

We did as well, even though the car we ordered took less than 5 months to come in and we had a build date within a month of the order! Glad that I am NOT in the market for a car now! We live in a crazy World!!

If you really wanted the car and could buy it outright, I would have been searching every local inventory with every state near me. That’s exactly what I did when I placed an order at two places and had no idea what was going on. I’d probably be out a vehicle and a tax credit if I had waited.

Right. When I thought our May order would come in November (still hasn't come), I bought a cancelled order that no one else noticed on July 2nd.

I will pay Ford back for this game by taking my order when it comes, for a nice fresh 2022, and then sell my 2021 for a profit (I won't trade it).

As long as this landscape doesn't change (probably through 2023 in my opinion), I will buy something every 6 months or so and resell it and buy again.

You would be right to look for other cars.
Why not check out MachE on dealer lots or cancelled orders?
I got my Premium Mach-E SR in a one and half month, by calling around last November.
Dealer had in incoming car.
Due to recall work car sat at rail yard for a month.
Dealership (Irwin Ford, Laconia NH) was great, sold at MSRP (minus Ford level-2 charger rebate $799).

Trust me MachE is a beautiful car hence in demand.
Don't write off the car because of horrible ordering process.

Also if you are considering ICE car then it's a different story.
People go BEV route are not going to be satisfied with ICE car, not once you drive BEV.
Our 1 month ownership is nothing but perfection...

Could do this I guess but it sounds like it would take a lot of time. Time is a luxury I don't have at the moment. If I had extra time during the day I'd probably be trying to buy from whatever dealer was in a 2 hour drive. Was fine with waiting on an order but now my car is starting to act up so I started looking into why my order was taking so long. Will need a car soon or invest in repairs on my current car.

Found this forum and decided saw that people who ordered well after me already have their cars. Thats why I just joined and started asking questions. I'm fairly annoyed that I am restarting a car search.

Yeah I understand it’s frustrating. But is it better being frustrated or to be happy with the car you actually wanted?
