FordPass 4.27.0 Update

I thought they hired a guy from Apple a year or so ago. It appears that that was not the hire they thought they had.

Besides, what makes you think this isn’t an improvement over where they’d otherwise have been?

No issues here for me with PAAK. Does it sometimes not connect right away? Sure. I just open the app and let it connect so I can open the hatch or doors. Do I get "Key Not Detected"? Sure. i just press the start button again and I am off an running. What I really wish they would do is fix the Apple CarPlay screen so the map was on the left half of the screen again instead of the top half.

That's not a fix. Prior to the UI change and Carplay updates, you had a choice of a larger Carplay screen or a smaller one. If you went large you got the map as it is now. If you went small, you had the left-right split. I prefer this version by far. In any event, any such change needs to be done by Apple, not Ford.

I completely agree. Unfortunately this is an Apple problem, so they need to fix it. Nothing Ford can do.

Yeah, the current screen allocation for CarPlay is more than sufficient to allow for a toggle for portrait mode CarPlay or Landscape mode CarPlay. I prefer the latter, but it could be an option in the iPhone settings or an extra tap of the screen button within Carplay itself.

I totally agree and I’ve reported this as a bug to Apple. I think Apple just never planned for a CarPlay screen so big! They seem to have plans to fix that this fall with the new version of CarPlay. Obviously we wouldn’t get the instrument cluster part of that, but hopefully we will get the improvements in the regular CarPlay.

I don’t need to see what’s to the left or right of my route. Especially since I use it PURELY to see the color changes coming up for traffic and not directions. I know where I’m going when I commute back and forth to work. It helps to see traffic ahead so I can slow down instead of slamming the brakes.

Also, it was fine BEFORE the major Sync update. This is really between Apple AND Ford. Mostly Ford for no allowing me the option to have the slightly smaller more useful view.

The choice of how Carplay works was and is entirely Apple's. There's nothing for Ford to fix.

It now appears to charge your car in negative time. It’s telling me that my car which was just plugged in will finish charging 4 hours in the past!

This is happening to me, too. Given the funny arithmetic FordPass sometimes uses, even before this update, I generally do the calculations in my head. Joe

Was CHARGING always at the top or did this update move it? I don’t remember it being the first option.

The issue is Apple dynamically adjusts the CarPlay layout based on the aspect ratio of the display area. I don’t think Apple ever planned for such a tall CarPlay display so they layout gets wonky with this new “portrait” display.

I definitely think ford should have left the smaller CarPlay display as an option, for many reasons, but it’s up to Apple to adapt to this new layout.

Being that they showed off a portrait style screen in recent CarPlay info it’s likely that they will address it this year.
