I have no cell service but good wifi. Is that the problem? The previous app worked with just wifi.

That shouldn't make a difference for the mobile app. If the mobile app is loading vehicle data on the home screen, you're already good to go there. The question would be more around the vehicle and it sending data. Permissions on the vehicle, vehicle wifi/cell connectivity (it needs a way to send the data) and then some questions around the vehicle itself on when it last sent the data. A good test might be to start up your vehicle (if it has a good signal) and see if the location updates.

Mostly, what I can say is that it works in a similar fashion to Tesla and other vehicles. The vehicle itself is sent a signal to "wake-up", once the vehicle is away a connection is established directly between the app and the vehicle with the vehicle reporting live information.

The prior application didn't receive "live" information per se, thus stale data was displayed all the time. The recovery mechanism would be pull to refresh like behaviors to force the app to attempt to get the latest data.

Unfortunately, this became a common habit for something that shouldn't have had to be done in the first place ?. Now, WYSIWYG.
Since you seem to know quite a bit about this update, let me ask you a question.

This morning I plugged in my car at work and it is always set to "charge when plugged in"
after about an hour I opened up the fordpass app and it had the option to move over to FP5
I clicked on that and was trying to find the charge status and saw that it was "waiting to charge"
I had to press the start button next to the charging data.
Was that a bug or do we have to press "start charge" every time we plug in now?

Confusion here regarding the fan button. Are you saying it starts the car and/or starts the climate control? Not very intuitive. I am at a remote location, 500 miles from my Mach e, and I just accidentally pressed the fan button, not knowing that it started anything. Did my car and/or climate control just start? How do I tell? Will whatever I just turned on shut off after the 30 minute shutoff period?
I noticed the update after I got done walking, so I sat down in the chair in front of my car on the porch. I have not started my car been in my car all day. It was locked. I press the fan button. I heard nothing then all of a sudden the shutters started open. Then you could hear the air conditioning in the car stayed locked As it always does, then you would have to open it and press the start button to start it. I’ve never had to put my foot on the brake.

No idea, but is this iOS or Android? I would report the issue to Ford. Detail out the OS, device, app version, if you were a beta tester prior and so on.
It's Android. I sent a mail to the address mentioned in the play store but got an answer informing that this mail is not monitored. Where can I report the issue?

I was able to get the location by selecting "location", but that action is not consistent as it only works after waiting an unknown time. It seems to need more work.

I see they got rid of the trip planner option. It was never accurate during the drive but at least gave me a sense of where some of the chargers were along the route.

It was nice to transfer a trip from your phone to the car. I guess all good things come to an end.

Would be nice to have more info on home screen, like the Ford Status Widget that I love (Play store for Android). Think there is an iOS version as well.

Where did you get this? I miss the widget that was banned a while ago?

That looks sweet. I'll have to try it. Any problem with FORD authorizing the release of their data for the widget?

The new Ford Pass 5.0 doesn't seem to display my crick info. It's pretty but didn't work without that data. (2021 MachE GT)

The mobile application itself doesn't actually control if the vehicle is charging or if it's not. This status may have been a bug in the older application tbh. It "could" be a bug in the new app reporting the correct state, but I doubt that. Those states are entirely driven by the vehicle itself though. If the app shows the correct state or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . There was a lot of time put into showing a more reliable representation of these things in the 5.0 app is what I can say.

I wonder whether this is a European issue.
I am in Germany, just installed 5.0.0 on iOS, and see the same as you: the old design. ;-)
