I got hit with SVS last Saturday and posted here on the forum later that day. The 6th reply in that thread was from @Ford Motor Company wanting to look into my error messages to see what happened. The fact that we’re now 10 pages deep in this thread with no reply from Ford speaks volumes and tells me that they’re slowly starting to grasp what a shitstorm they have on their hands. Or maybe they’re just off on the weekends. We’ll see if they jump in tomorrow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sure they think that this isn't the experience they would like for you to have, and that they would be happy to look into it from their end if you provide them with your VIN and remote location where your car has bricked itself.

For you flatlanders, here is a climb I did last November on the way from Phoenix to Kingman, first charging stop on the way to Vegas, averaged 70mph.
Ford Mustang Mach-E From SVS to SSN - The Tejon Pass Claims Another Mach-E 1660489645186

And this is even a much more severe one, Phoenix to Flagstaff that I did July of last year in the Arizona heat, averaged 75mph.

I have a RWD CR1 with the ER battery. I am now approaching 20k miles with no failures. And in both of the above cases I did DCFC with peak of 150+ KW right after these climbs, then continued on.

How many reports do we have of RWD failures?

So when I am traveling the interstate highways in VA (I95, I64, I81, I66, etc.), I set my cruise on 80 and I am frequently passed. It sounds like you live in a different state than me.
Same state. :)

I didn't say what happens vs. what was legal. That said, I'm pretty risk averse, and the consequences of an 80 mph reckless driving ticket on both my insurance and my license aren't worth crossing that line to me.

It's quite apparent that there's a lot of people from other states who don't understand how we drive.

California has a lot of laws on the books that aren't ever enforced unless they want to stop you.

Tinted Windows
Front License Plates
Driving in a bath robe
Speeding within 10-15 mph
Yeah, that's completely fair. Last time I was in CA, I nearly had a heart attack when a motorcycle flew up between the lanes of cars JUST missing getting clipped by someone's side mirror. Lane-splitting is just unfathomable to me.

Has nothing to do with lawsuits. Go through any social media forum, Twitter, FB, etc. Most companies can't address issues because they're prevented to by their legal departments. You're not even going to see an acknowledgement of the issues.
While I am not certain it has nothing to do with law suits (I don't know how many times that I have heard spokespeople for politicians, companies, etc. say to reporters that they cannot comment on something because there has been court action on the issue) the legal departments would also prevent them speaking about issues because of fear of pending or future legal action.

If I am remembering correctly though, Ford did acknowledge that the high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB) in TSB 22-2178 is the problem. In Safety Recall 22S41 they acknowledged that in affected vehicles, it is possible that the high voltage battery main contactors may overheat, which can result in an open contactor or welding condition. Should the contactors weld closed while driving, a powertrain malfunction warning light will be illuminated on the next drive cycle, along with a no start condition. If the contactors open while driving, a powertrain malfunction warning light will be illuminated, the vehicle will display Stop Safely Now in the instrument panel cluster, and the vehicle will experience an immediate loss of motive power.

If I remember correctly back when I was younger, the Ford Pinto had a problem with the placement of the gas tank in the rear which exploded on impact from a rear end collision and Ford wouldn't concede that the problem existed initially. So you're probably right about them not commenting on this any further now.

We just need to make sure it’s someone with an updated relay, or else they’ll likely fall victim to the pass of fail too. 🪤 *

I don’t want to read about a line of failed MME GT’s on the side of the I-5 in the morning paper.

OT, but it‘s because a lot of older motorcycle engines are air cooled, and would overheat if they dropped from highway speeds to a stop in your typical day to day CA gridlock. They’re allowed to lane-split because of that history.

Kinda like the problem we’re having now. Maybe if we add an extra air intake we can cool the connector down. Need to get started on a new CA ballot measure to allow MME lane-splitting. 😎

You'll have to excuse me for not being Californian enough to know -- are those roads hilly, flat, or midwest flat. Asking for a friend.
All within the bay, so flat. While there are some decent passes getting out to the outer valleys, I don't see those in my commute.

My thoughts exactly. Of most, if not all, of the issues I've read, they all affect AWD vehicles. I haven't had a single issue with my vehicles except for a parking brake issue that resolved itself, a camera failure issue that also resolved itself, and the 1.7.1 software update glitch that I had to take my car to the dealership to get fixed.

Technically setting the cruise at 80 in the MME is actually 79 mph, because the speedometer is off by 1 mph. Which is really annoying.

After reading all the comments, I am scared of being stranded. I have an upcoming trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain from Bay Area and will be driving through Tejon Pass.

It is natural to worry after reading this thread and many others in this forum, and I also struggle with the worry. I feel my GT will fail at some point, as it seems all GTs are going to. IMO, anyway.

But why should I worry about that more than I worry about getting in a car accident? You can't know when (or if, because your Premium might be good forever) it will fail, just like you can't know when or if you will be in a car accident.

Just drive, enjoy your car, and use this forum to keep you informed so you know what to do if it happens. And I am sure it won't be as bad as a car accident, at least when you consider how it happened to others. Including Todd. He wasn't even pissed off! But a car accident? Much worse IMO.

I actually said right here that I would be okay with a little excitement in life regarding this trip. I didn't expect to get as much excitement as I got however.

I never worried about it, even when I got SSN. Then again I had a lot of tools and resources with me to diagnose the issue and make an informed decision. The most worried I was, had to be the 2 blocks to the dealership.

A lot of things may be legal but that does not make them good ideas. "Lane splitting" on a motorcycle is one of those in my opinion. I've been riding since the early 70's and lived in CA for 40 years and never did it once.
