That really sucks. I'm on module #4 replacement and multiple updates and calibrations as advised by tech staff (engineers?) on Ford's service support hotline. No engineer has come out on-person to assist with my Mach E GT which is strange because on a 3rd repair attempt, wouldn't a manufacturer be extremely worried about not getting it right? It's not like I'm in the middle of the CA Mojave Desert, ha!

So, it appears that a large majority '21 Mach E's are significantly affected by this defect! Not good! Ford is unable to fix any of these cars permanently? I can't believe it. This is a bad dream right? How can Ford not fix this? Do they not have enough competant engineers? Uggggggggggggg.
Of the three 2021 models in our family, only mine is suffering with this issue. Other two cars are fine. Well, with respect to this issue anyway.

Two Premiums and one Select. It took 4 months to get BlueCruise working on my car. The other Premium still doesn't have BlueCruise working. Been to the dealer 4 different times. Choosing another dealer and maybe they will have better luck.

OTA 3.5.4.2 last night. Will see if any impact on the front camera issue. Temps here in Phoenix are below 100 now, though.

Brought the car in for attempt #4. The engineers instructed the tech to rewire the camera. We’ll see it this works.
Based off the last few folks that have posted that Ford engineering is allegedly involved, it still looks like they are shot-gunning. Sometimes the engineers provide a special "reset sequence", sometimes they replace all of the wiring, sometimes they replace IPMA and/or IPMB, sometimes they replace the camera. I think yours is the first post about wiring just to the camera, but I admit there have been a ton of posts so I could have missed one.

Funny thing is that I only got the fault a few times in the pay few weeks. Not sure if the temp or direct sunlight has anything to do with it but it has been cooler. The last fault I got was while I was in a drive thru in direct sunlight and it went away after I moved. I’m tired of bringing the car in all of the time.

Ehhh, that should only take a day, maybe two tops if they're familiar with the wiring harness assemblies. Yeah, I hope they don't go to this step for me! My car should be returned tomorrow if road-testing goes well... So far, SA & tech are confident!

my dealership has given up.... won't return my calls, nor return BEV team calls... BEV team is trying to find a new dealership willing to work on this

With it becoming a bit of a less occurring issue... I think i'm going to sit this one on the sideline and wait for ford to figure out a real plan.

This is bananas.

Sorry if you've already mentioned this, but how did they fix it? Did they find a specific problem? What was the solution?

My vehicle has been at the dealership for almost 2 weeks now, and so far they're still throwing their hands in the air waiting for some word (via email only, apparently) from Ford.
PLEASE dr.cal.fan tell us what they did and the number of those who fixed it so my dealership can call them and I get my beautiful mustang back!!!!

I had my camera rewired and it didn't take. They replaced the camera on the windshield itself and I believe reset the software and now it finally works. I've only had the fault pop up twice and it all went away on its own as I'm driving after a minute or so. Although, the other day I got a powertrain error but that also went away, so I'm hoping it was a glitch. That said, the car's still great to drive if one can ignore the software glitches going on

I just found this thread and though I would add my experience. i may have been one of the first if not the first to report this issue (see thread link below). I picked up my car in April 2021 and started having the front end camera failure in late Nov 2021. The car was in and out of the dealer for about 6 weeks. At one point I did not have the car for almost a month. They kept installing a new module and it would fail. We would have to wait for another module...install.. fail... Four times this happened. I contacted Ford out of frustration. They sent an engineer from Michigan. Fifth module was installed and the problem was solved...or so I thought.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago and the camera failed again. Brought it in 'Oh now we understand the problem. They have anew updated module". This time they replaced the module while I was at wrk and I got the car back the same day. That repair lasted about 24 hours. Now the camera failure warning is coming up every minute or two with an audible warning. If I hit the OK button it goes away but comes back a minute or two later. If I do nothing the warning still repeats after a minute or two.

In addition I now have a separate issue. I get the door open warning whenever I turn the car off and the center console animation no longer comes on during start up, who cares but just another weird fault.

My issue now is that I have 16,000 miles on the car. NYS lemon law claims have to be submitted before 18,000 miles. I can't afford to give Ford much time to provide a permanent solution and will have to make a decision in the next week or two although I have heard that once you do that the company will no longer help with repairs. Will update this with any new developments

I went through NJ lemon law claim and Ford was willing to buy out the car at a decent price. I asked if they can just reimburse me and keep trying to fix it, and they were willing to do that, so my dealer kept the car for about a month. I told them they can give me the car back with error and all since it was totally driveable and was willing to take the cash settlement and lvie with the error. They were finally able to fix it but I was almost afraid they wouldn't give the car back with the error since they said they couldn't legally release the car in that condition and until all the testing came back error free.

I guess you and I have different definitions of "works". Most of us are in the same boat, parts get changed, software gets "reset", and the permanent faults turn into occasional faults. That's not "fixed" or "working" by my definition.

True, true...but Ford buying out the car, which is a '21 Select with comfort/tech package, which no longer exists because its basically a Premium without glass roof and with a base model battery, I would have lost a lot of peripherals (great financing rate, ceramic coating, tints, NJ $2k rebate, etc.). I mean, Ford was willing to reimburse me for a majority of those things but to me it wasn't worth selling it back. To each their own and what you will tolerate or don't tolerate from the car.

BlueCruise works and the car drives great otherwise. The error message only popped up twice in the past 2-3 weeks and those were transient and self resolved. I would not fault you if that is unacceptable to you. Ford provided me options to provide resolution to this issue and I accepted the option others may not have chosen. I would def recommend you choose the option of selling back and buying another vehicle if these errors are unacceptable to you, and buying another car was also another headache I did not want to choose in this current car buying environment.

Again, I only suggested options for people, that I was given by Ford and I picked one maybe most may have not thought of doing if they still enjoyed driving the car, which I actually do, despite those error messages.

when they offered you the option of buying the car back what did they offer? I am starting the process now but I need a car so of they offer me some depreciated value in this inflationary environment that won’t be acceptable.

The offer for buyback is calculated by NJ state law. The formula is the mileage the car presented with the original mileage, multiplied by the original MSRP, then divided by 100,000. They also gave me extra for the modifications I had made within 30 days of the initial purchase. Again, it was actually a pretty fair offer but as you said the inflationary environment I still had to take a loss in time and money in looking and buying a new car. I kept their car and accepted their settlement offer, which was two months worth of finance payments, and it’s fixed, to my satisfaction.

As others mentioned, it’s not fixed to their satisfaction if error messages still pop up. I don’t begrudge if others don’t choose what I chose but understand trying to find a similar new electric car is difficult.
Tesla is the best choice but they don’t qualify for the federal tax rebate, Bolt EUV is great but no AWD and everyone has charged an upfront price that I had been looking at, no guarantee a new MME doesn’t have the same issue, and all the other ones with AWD is 6-12 months from delivery.
it’s all up to you, just trying to offer information to people in the same boat as me
