Dropped my 2021 GTPE off at the dealer on 12/19 for a knocking sound when turning hard left/right - figuring it was an open and shut case of SSM 50513, given my symptoms and build date. I was told that it’s not a problem with the half shafts, and is instead the differential. My dealer has contacted Ford engineering but isn’t getting any response. I’m willing to cut them some slack, given that we’re in the holiday season, but how long will I be without my car, making payments to Ford Credit without a rental? @Ford Motor Company is this something you can provide insight into? Nobody at the dealer is telling me anything, I don’t think Ford is telling them anything.

It’s now been 11 days with zero update on the status. They aren’t even looking at my car and refuse to release it due to thinking it might somehow be unsafe. Man I wish I had never tried to take it in for the documented problem…

That’s what I find so frustrating. They acknowledge that there is a problem but are not looking at it while they are apparently waiting for further instruction from Ford engineering. Because they are unsure of what the problem is, they are concerned it would be unsafe to release the vehicle. I’m still trying to get the rental approved.

@Ford Motor Company any chance you can help? I’m getting ghosted by my dealership everyday. If they do pick up the phone they say they’ll call back and never do. I kind of want to head over physically to force them to talk to me, but I worry this will be perceived as an escalation. I still have no idea why they insist to hold my car and refuse to let me have it back. Supposedly Ford engineering is involved but they are providing no information. What legal right do you have to hold my car with no explanation? I’m almost to 30 days without the car, so do I have to persue lemon laws to stop paying for something that I don’t have?

Have you called the Bev team and opened a case? Follow up with an email to Ford’s Customer Experience Officers as well, then read up on your state’s lemon laws. Also consider having Ford buy the car back directly before going through the lemon law.

I hadn’t, but I’ll try to call tomorrow.

They’re not just for HVBJB issues. Hopefully they can help push this to a satisfactory resolution.

Well, I called and got a case number this morning. I got a little more info: my dealer has been in correspondence with Ford engineering exactly two times since dropping it off. Mostly it seems like they’re just not doing anything. Supposedly somebody may call me back within 2 days. I’m skeptical.

Stay on your dealer, too. They can call if they're not getting timely responses to requests.

Well, they’re finally working on my car. Apparently at this dealer all it takes is 26 days of the car sitting around - and one call to the customer experience team - to get them to look at your problem.

This dealer is driving me crazy. I call today in the afternoon and they tell me that they locked themselves out of the car again! What’s worse, they didn’t bother to call me to ask to unlock it for them. I had to keep calling to finally get into contact with the service advisor to get the ball rolling again. These people are terrible at their job.

Wow, how do they lock themselves out? You gave them a key fob right? You have to try hard to lock that in.

Yes, they have my key fob. From what I can tell over the phone, they’re leaving it in the car and locking it?

They’ve done it twice now. I have no idea how these people are so incompetent.
