This morning I attempted to unlock the frunk through the phone on my app. It is now stuck partially open. It seems that the first unlatch took, but the second will not unlatch completely. It will not open or close from here. The manual release in the car does not do anything. We have tried multiple ways to push it back closed. We have tried to release it open while pulling up, pulling the manual, pressing the button the app, etc. We have also tried maneuvering a device to try and press the emergency frunk release inside of the frunk. Nothing is working. I can't drive it locked partially open. Help!! What have people done to solve this issue? I have searched the forums and it seems that ultimately some people have had to resort to take it into service and get the latch replaced. Ugh, so frustrating! Especially since I just got my vehicle 2 days ago, and can't drive it now.

Pressing very forcefully on top of where the latch is doesn’t close it? If you heard it only unlock one latch, then it is still safe to drive.

The double locking system is for the emergency unlock in the frunk itself. If someone is trapped in there, they press the unlock and it’ll unlock enough for air to get in but won’t unlock it fully so the hood doesn’t fly up.

I’d call or text your sales guy and ask him to do you a solid getting in quick to service. But try the forceful pressing. It takes a lot.

Have you pulled the interior latch TWICE in a row?

If the 2 pull on the inside latch does not work, you might try someone slightly pulling up on the lid while someone else is pulling the latch inside the car

Tried pressing, jumping on, and even sitting on the top and it won't close.

It must be stuck in that first latch position that will allow enough air entry out. That must mean we should abort trying to press that button on that inside as I doubt that would advance it any further.

Of course this issue comes up on a Sunday, but will definitely be contacting the dealership tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply. We did try this as well. No luck.

Yes, pulled it twice. It's like the manual latch isn't catching or pulling at all.
I think that is correct. If I remember correctly, the manual release mechanism is bypassed when the electric release is activated.

When I first got my car, I wished for an electric hood release but I also believed that Ford was really good at software (a belief based on many many previous Ford vehicles). Now I am not so sure it is wise to have an electric release. The manual pull handle is probably the most reliable method of releasing the hood. That technology has proven itself by now.

Really wishing it was a manual pull handle! This malfunction is ridiculous.

You could try hooking up a 12volt jumper to the cables in the bumper access hole, see if that does anything, worth a shot

We thought about that, but I have read that that only pops the frunk open if the battery is dead.

Agree. So far I have been lucky. Of the dozens and dozens of software glitches to grace my car, none have kept me from actually driving the car.
Does your car still drive with the hood in that position?

Correct. And the emergency hood release is the same release mechanism as the app anyway.

Where is @Jimrpa when we need him he is the expert on the electronic hood release on this forum. At least the most obsessed with it. Sorry for bloating the thread just could not help myself.

I have no button to date so can not help much. Pull the mechanical twice hold pull the second time then have some else try to lift the hood up? Not sure if it is a mag lock?

It does still drive, yes. But it has an alert that is very loud and annoying that goes off every 2 seconds alerting you that the frunk is open. Also, I'm nervous to drive it at highway speeds with it half unlocked for fear that it would release completely while driving.

That's what we decided with the emergency hood release. Probably won't activate, but even if it didn't likely wouldn't advance the latch any further.
