You are talking about wireless devices. There are an ABUNDENT of factors that can result in the transmission or receiving of the transmitter to be extraordinary good or extraordinary crappy. Manufacture of the garage opener would be the biggest factor and how they designed the receiver, or even the age of the garage opener. Another major factor is if you have any RFI or Radio Frequency Interference around your home. Powerlines are known to cause all type of RFI issues with lower power transmitters. You would be amazed at how much RFI there is around your home. I used to have a Cox cable box that would blast out all types of noise. You easily find out if you play HF radio at all :)

End of the day, almost everyone is going to have a difference experience.
At my old house I had an issue where the door opener wouldnā€™t work when it was sunny out. Couldnā€™t figure it out for the life of me.

Finally found the issue:

I had installed solar powered attic fans.

When they ran (sunny out) it created interference. A combination of ferrite magnets on the attic fan wires and a special remote (canā€™t remember what it is, but it was the same that people use near airports) did the trick.

I have a newer belt drive Genie. The user manual from the MME screen even provided a video for the exact remote control that came with my garage door opener. Nothing in the manual or the video worked. I finally went to youtube, watched a video from someone that looked like they knew what they were doing. Tried what they said... It hooked up right away.

The distance on my built-in opener is far better than the wife's Dodge. I am really happy with it. I would guess I am good for up to about 150 feet.

Problems I have encountered that I have fixed:
1) Harley Davidson add-on that allows me to toggle my high beams on the bike a few times to open the garage door interfered with the range of all the other remotes. I installed this thing on a wall as far from the opener as possible, just as Harley Davidson suggested. It STILL interfered terribly.
Solution: Sold the Harley and sent the add-on opener device with it!
2) Cheap LED lighting (surface mounted to the drywall ceiling about 6' away from opener,) while turned on interfered with the range of all the remotes.
Solution: Suffered until the cheap LED lights died from poor design, bought different cheap LED lights.
3) Using LED light-bulbs in the opener itself also caused all the remotes to perform poorly.
Solution: Reluctantly went back to CFL light-bulbs

Do you have to push the button on the homelink (don't have my MME yet)? In my Tesla, it knows where I am and I can set it to a certain distance and it automatically opens and closes (if I want it to) without having to push a button each time.

Yes, you have to push the button.

Came here to mention LED bulbs. My older garage door opener does the same thing. If I put LED bulbs in it, when those lights are on I can barely get it to open with a remote at all. Same goes for the ceiling lights in the garage. With CFL or traditional bulbs (which are getting hard to find) it works fine. The homelink opener button in my Mustang GT works from several hundred feet away now.

To open/close my garage door I have to be within about 15' from the door, and often it will not make the connection. And even when it does connect if I let go of the button too soon - or too late - the door stops. I do not have this problem with my other vehicle, and it activates the door from easily 200' away. Any suggestions?
And my wife and I love our mach-E!!! My first car was a 1965 Mustang. I like this one much better.
I have to pull right up to the door, same type of door opener. My old MKZ worked from at least 50 feet. Looking at the other replies it's possible that interfering signals are limiting the range because of a weak signal. I found that sometimes it works better if I swing the visor down while I pushed the button.

I thought it was just me... I have 2 liftmasters with the yellow buttons. my wifes jeep will work from far enough away the door is open before she gets to it. My GMC pickup works from the moon... i can hit it before i even see my house. The MME, I basically have to be in the driveway and wait for the door.

Good point. We didn't discuss brand of opener. I have a LiftMaster, which is the company that makes Chamberlain also.
Iā€™ve got a LiftMaster. Iā€™ve found two things:

1. When you took off the back cover to program it, did you accidentally close the antenna wire back up in the light cover by chance? If so, pull it back out so it hangs down.

2. I have a weird dead spot about halfway down my driveway (which isnā€™t all that long). Right near the door, itā€™s fine. At the end of my driveway, itā€™s fine. Heck, even out down the road a bit, itā€™s fine. But about 10ā€™ to 15ā€™ away from the door in the middle of the driveway, it canā€™t hear the button press.

Every video I found was wrong except one. It said to press the learn button on the opener then press the button in the car for 2 seconds and release and repeat until the opener responds. It took me 4 button presses until the opener responded. Been working every since
