Good Bye Mach E. Hello Cadillac Optiq

I mostly noticed it where the gear shift dial is with all that clear plastic and it was very creaky sounding as it was perhaps a bit loose in the show car? (something that shouldn't be especially in a show car)

I guess I am "old enough" and would look at the Optiq, but for two things: Lack of CarPlay is a deal-killer; my brother-in-law is a Cadillac dealer and I would never give him the satisfaction of owning one

LOL I haven’t owned a Cadillac for a couple of decades. I never felt too young to own one. I just didn’t much like the new ones at the time. Still not a fan of not having access to CarPlay/AA and the styling doesn’t exactly make me excited. But the current crop is better than it has been for decades. I still miss the 1969. ??

I feel the same any manufacture that drops CarPlay/AA lost any chance of having me as a customer.

Currently I'm leasing my Mach-E which is the very first time I have ever leased a car. I did so because the tech is changing so fast, I decided to "pay for the choice". But normally I keep cars for decades, and I don't trust any manufacture to support their software for that long. I can easily replace my phone, but you can't replace the car's software if they stop supporting it.

Isn’t the Optiq smaller than the Mach-E? I thought the Lyriq is the same size as Mach-E.

Optiq is slightly bigger than Mach-E. Lyriq is even bigger, nearly a foot longer than our Mustang.

Very bummed about the no CarPlay in most GM vehicles now. But we were at the Auto Show last week a couple times. Didn’t get to sit in a Blazer SS or even see one, but sat in the regular Blazer. Didn’t care for the seats much, but liked the layout a lot. No Lyriq V’s out yet, nor at the Auto Show. But did sit in one of the upper level Lyriqs. Really liked it. Heated/ventilated seats, pano roof that opens. Heated rear seats. (Which the Blazer SS has most of). Both have real buttons for volume and heater controls, which weren’t awkward to get to. Blazer SS or the Lyriq V series will be on my radar for next vehicle.

The gear shift is a column shifter like the 2025 Mach E. The dial you are referring to is to control different apps on the screen if you don’t want to tap the screen.

The Optiq is very nice looking both inside and out. Definitely a strong competitor to the MME in the looks department. If it has typical Cadillac quiet and cushiness, that’s a huge plus.

Range seems comparable even though the 85kWh battery pack is a bit smaller than the MME extended range’s 91.

It’s just a shame GM ditched CarPlay and that car is so sluggish. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds (closer to 7 in realty) is disappointing.

Still, a worthy competitor!

I test drove an Optiq last week. It does not offer CP or AA. I told the saleslady that was a deal breaker for me and she should let her higher-ups know that they are losing sales because of removing a feature via software just to hopefully eventually get subscription bucks.

Otherwise the car was very nice, but it did feel sluggish compared to my '21 MME Premium AWD.

I think it looks better than the Lyriq, especially in the rear.

The Optiq has a 19 speaker Dolby Atmos stereo. To take advantage of that you need to download Atmos music from Amazon. The fixed sunroof has a power retractable cover. It has massaging seats. You can create a ”my drive”. This changes the sensitivity of the steering, handling, brakes and engine sound to different settings of your choice rather than the factory determining what you want. Has a 120 multi color setting and you can have different colors in different areas at the same time. Regular rear view mirror or camera rear view mirror.
