The Mach-E was a good attempt and a great foundation that Ford got many things correct on. But that is over because of the dealers that I have been fighting with for the last 3 years.

Since the Dec 2021 my Mach-E has had issues shutting down BlueCruise, Cruise Control and Lane Centering all fail randomly, but all at the same time. It could be after 45 minutes of driving, or 4 hours. It has happened daily.

My local dealer told me many times that I don't know how to drive my car. I'm not knowledgeable on how the Mach-E works. I am not driving fast enough to keep the system engaged. There is nothing wrong. It is all in my head. I have heard this for three years.

I took the Mach-E to a different dealer, based on the recommendation on the Ford BEV team. They had my Mach-E for 3 weeks. When they first got my car they quoted me $803 for to repair what the local dealer didn't fix after I hit a deer. Yesterday they called me to tell me the price was $1350 for the repair. When I asked about the $803 estimate the service manager denied she said it and called me a liar. I had to have Ford BEV Customer service call and remind her they recorded that call.

This morning Ford BEV told me I was on my own and there is nothing they can do because there was an insurance claim on the damage. Insurance will not open a three year old claim.

I had enough of the lies. I had enough of the dealer talking down to me. I hit my limit when the second dealer called me a liar. I told them after the Mach-E is repaired to sell it. I don't want it back. I want nothing to do with it. I am done with FORD!

Incredible...
I don't understand the problem with US dealerships regarding the Mach-E, especially since in France, it's exactly the opposite. The dealerships do their utmost to sell Mach-Es and treat buyers as best as possible. Well, in the end, the Mach-E doesn't sell at all in France, but there are other reasons and they have nothing to do with the Ford network.

So you hit a deer and then started having problems?

I get the BC issues. The sun is out, BC won't engage. It is raining out, BC won't engage. But I still couldn't go back. BC is a game changer. Sounds like it is more "Goodbye Ford" than "Goodbye Mach-E. "

Once again the inconsistently weak link is the dealer experience. Imagine if dealerships were like other retailers: one policy for ALL stores.

When I need to make a return at Wally World, it has never mattered which store I go to. About the only thing that changes is the level of grumpiness the person at the service desk displays (if you don't like your job so much, quit already ?). But I digress....

Ford at large is its own worst enemy. Be interesting to know if the experience at Chevy/GM is any different. Sorry the OP had such a poor experience. Truly hope you stick with electric and find better luck with your next vehicle.

+1 the dealer model is really broken. My dealer has been really good (Landmark Ford) but I see so many terrible experiences that I would never put up with...

A personal observation, Gresham Ford is a dealer I will never do business with. Why? They spent a zillion dollars adding DCFC bays... and they are all filled daily with dealership owned F series trucks... Nothing says EV buyers not welcome quite like the dealership icing its own chargers.

I see from your profile info you're in Oregon, so am I. Now I'm concerned about which dealers you had such horrible experiences with...I'm in the Portland metro area, are you? And if so, which dealers should I avoid?

Dealers suck @TruWrecks. The dealership laws are an anti-consumer, anti-competitive, stabilizing program. Sadly, there is very little Ford can actually do about piss poor dealerships.

Good luck with your next car. If you go the EV route again, stop by the forum after a few months in the new car and let us know the good and bad.

I think a better analogy would be McDonald's since I believe that Wally World stores are all company-owned. Many McDonald's restaurants are franchised and not company-owned. Corporate does dictate a lot about uniformity of service, even to the franchised stores. ?‍♂?

This is partially why I didn’t get a Mach E until 2024. I’ll never be one that gets a brand new vehicle on its first or even second year of release. Dealer issues have seemed pretty common especially for the EVs but if my car had those same issues I’m not sure id even notice lol. I don’t use bluecruise, cruise control and if lane centering stopped working it might take me awhile to even notice.

If you want another EV look into BMW. My wife drives an i4 and loves it. The dealership experience is top notch.
I’m leaning towards an i5 M60 when the time comes.

I agree. I don’t think I can live without some sort of level 2+ autonomous driving.

Sorry to see you go Tru, I would not want to put up with that after three years either.

It seems like the deer hit really messed it up and the first dealer was not able to properly repair it. I'm not surprised that insurance won't reopen it - insurance won't guarantee the quality of a repair. Once they pay, they are done with it if the repaired items fail prematurely.

That being said, I don't know if it is dealer incompetence or if it truly is something difficult to fix. Especially if it happens after 45 min but potentially as late as 4 hours later, it sort of seems like something is just slightly not right and perhaps they are having a hard time discovering it through their diagnosis procedures.

I'm not excusing it, its their car they have to know how to repair it, but since these driver aids are so new, I could see how a tech might not be as good as figuring out what is wrong and fixing it like they might with say an engine issue that they are used to dealing with for decades.

I hope your next car performs better.
