Hi folks,

I have a Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 charger connected to a NEMA 14-50 outlet powered by a 50-amp circuit breaker. The charger is set to 32amps. The charger was purchased on July 25, 2021 so it is just over a year old.

This morning I discovered my charger no longer powers on and of course will not charge the car. I've verified proper voltages to all legs of the outlet and they are good. I opened the charger and the fuses inside are good and there is no evidence of overheating / damage.

Is my charger bad? Please help.

Bummer! Did you already check what the status LED is doing versus all the meanings in the manual? Or is the LED dead too?

I called the support number earlier this week and they seemed willing to help with my issue (I broke the locking clip accidentally on my nozzle). It was a lady with a french accent and she said fill out the support form and add pictures and they will get back to me.

Thanks folks.

The charger is completely dead; the LED does not light at all.

I've already submitted a support ticket on the Grizzl-E website; just waiting on a response.

I just went through a similar experience with my charger that was purchased in February 2021. My classic charger failed to fully complete a charge and there were many posts that chargers manufactured around this time had similar issues and United Chargers was replacing the devices.

I filled out a support ticket on their website but they did not respond in a timely manner. I called their support number to speak with someone directly to get things moving. After about six weeks of back-and-forth and sending videos of the charging sessions and documenting the blinking light to help diagnose the issue, they finally sent a new charger. I waited about two weeks to go through a couple charging cycles completely before sending back the defective charger.

I’m running a 50A circuit and charging at 40A using NEMA 14-50 plug.

For those that had a Grizzl-e failure, do you mind sharing your install location? (inside, outside, shade/sunny, etc)

And what was the duty cycle you put the unit through? (short daily charges vs. long semi-weekly charge, etc)

Of course, it shouldn't matter, but just wondering because I have two units, about the same age as yours.

Please keep this thread updated on the status of your replacement.

Inside an insulated unheated attached garage for long charges.

I have two, one in an unheated garage and the other outside but under cover. Both are on 50 amp circuits charging @ 40 amps. The second one has continuous faults showing 10 red blinks indicating an overcharge. I downgraded the charging to 32A and got the same result. How can it overcharge when it faults before finishing the full charge ? Contacted United Chargers and they are sending a replacement. Will post again after seeing if that one makes a difference or not.

Exact same thing happened to me - completely dead and lights wouldnt turn on after 8 months. I contacted them via their support webpage and they had a replacement shipped to me shortly along with a label to ship back the dead unit after I shared my invoice. Great customer service hopefully my replacement unit lasts much longer.

Hmm, maybe some reliability issues here. Did any of you happen to take a peek inside before returning it to see if anything looked burnt up?

I have a Grill-E Classic that is mounted outside on my wall under my carport. When the wind blows really hard it can get wet if it is raining. I have seen it with ice on the charger a few times during the winter.

I bought this charger in Nov 2019. It has been rock solid and it gets used every day with a mixture of short and long charges.

After two days of inactivity with my support ticket, I decided to call their tech support. The rep quickly reviewed my case and told me that the unit is dead and they would be shipping out a replacement, though I'm in a "queue" and it might be a bit of time until they are able to ship it. Apparently, there are a lot of replacements that need to go out which doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies regarding the long-term reliability of this charger.

Here's a pic of the inside of my dead unit. All connections are tight and there are no obvious signs of damage or overheating.

My replacement unit took a week to ship after the shipping label was generated. Plan on the unit taking about a week to deliver since it is originating from Canada.
