H&R Block Software - missing charger credit form (8911)

Just installed H&R Block Deluxe tax software (my post-Black Friday tradition). Just wanted to pass along, it includes the Plug-in electrical vehicle credit ($7500) but does not include form 8911 for the credit on the installation of the charger and plug. Looks like this is a known issue (wasn't known to me) and was not available in last year's version. Not sure if it will be added in a future update, but I will be calling support on Monday to confirm and try to get my money back if not. Looks like the workaround is to download form 8911 from the IRS website, manually calculate the credit and enter it under other business credits on Form 3800.

Not sure if it is handled better by other tax software, but I definitely would have checked out other programs if I had known in advance...

I used TurboTax last year for 8911, in anticipation of my Mach E delivery. It just worked.

Thanks for letting us know as I usually use H&R for my software. I'm going to use my neighbor I think with all the complications I have this year with crypto, solar, charging and EV

My experience with tax software is that it takes time for all forms to become available. This is even true for some of the PDF forms from IRS.gov used for paper filing.

I would wait until at least mid-February to allow time for updated official forms, tax web sites, and tax software updates.

It has been included with TurboTax since at least the 2018 tax year.

I used H&R Block last year. Their consumer software does not support the EV charger tax credit. Went round 'n round with them before somebody actually could give me a correct answer. I had to file an amended return with a paper copy of the 8911 form.

I had no issue with the charger credit last year using FreeTaxUSA.

I spoke with H&R block a few days ago. Form 8911 due out by Feb 6th I think is what they said. I was also looking for the workaround.

Well that form is not available yet.
Who we gotta speak to? Im going to have to redo all my stuff in Turbotax now. Ahhhh!

Interestingly, TaxAct makes you dig into business credits, too... And very high fees like TurboTax and HR Block.

Meanwhile this is all easy/well integrated and super inexpensive with TaxHawk/freetaxusa.
