This is clearly a "love it" or "hate it" topic ... :)
And remind me not to park around these other guys. They seem to get their cars covered in crap all the time. LOL. You must make good parking choices!!

Not sure how you can park to specifically avoid things like bugs/birds/dirt lol. Maybe car cover everywhere you go?

If you figure out how to avoid dirt/wind in an outdoor Kansas Parking lot .. please let me know .. you will be rich...

Think I'll hold off any judgement until I actually see, and use one in person.

Yup, very possible they are running several different variations on these test cars to get feedback on them

This is why I have a question about the door handles on my list of potential questions for the Q&A with the Mach E design team the other site is holding tomorrow night.

I like the Model 3 design. At first its like WTF .. but now it's natural, maintains the lines of the car, doesn't trap anything and gives you plenty of leverage to open the door. Plus no motor to fail.
That's not actually true. Kind of sort of. In normal usage pulling the Model 3 door handle activates a motor that pops open the door. It's possible I guess that there is a mechanical backup in that handle that would actuate the latch if the motor failed. I don't think there is, but I don't really know for sure. There is a mechanical backup inside to open the door if there's an electrical failure.

TBH, I think you'll find that todays motor driven actuators are more reliable than mechanical linkages in many doors. GM had a huge problem with doors that wouldn't open in the 2000's until sometime in the 2010's. For all I know they still have an issue. I had a 2005 Chevy Cobalt that from time to time the door just wouldn't open from either inside or out. No fix was ever delivered. I don't know how they avoided a recall on that one, it was and is a huge safety issue in the event of a crash.

Certainly electrically actuated locks are less susceptible to car break ins than mechanical linkages, as long as the mechanical backups are properly designed. Something to bear in mind when locking the car. It's difficult, but not impossible, to lock your keys inside a Tesla. Ford side steps that issue nicely with the keypad on the door pillar. With a Tesla, it's a good idea to make sure your car is on your spouse's phone app so they can unlock your car remotely. Tesla Roadside assistance can do that as well if you remember your password... All in all I prefer the Ford Keypad.

I have a one car garage that is packed with crap instead of cars, so my car is always parked outside next to the big beautiful tree the Mrs won't let me get rid of. At work there are pine trees all along the parking lot. I constantly have to clean out the well where the windshield wipers hide, and the seam where my convertible roof meets the car body. I even had to pay $300 2 years ago to have the trap that drains that seam cleaned out because it clogged up and was leaking onto the floor of the back seat.

Yikes! Sounds like @Stickboy46 was right, car cover for everywhere you go.

Hmm, is the crap in the garage yours? If so, sounds like a standoff between your crap and her tree?

Well, actually the tree is helping my cause - it's at least 30 years old, and the roots are starting to make the sidewalk to the front door heave :)

In that image, it looks like the trough is sloped toward the rear, so at least water will drain out.

Spiders, not so much.
Certainly not. We all know the itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout.

Now try getting that ear worm out of your head ?
