Occasionally I will get a double honk when the hatch closes. The car is not running.
I just walk up with my phone and press the hatch button and it opens.
I then put something in (or remove) in the back and then press the hatch button to close it.
That is when I get the double honk.

Anyone know of the cause/cure for this?

Is there a key in the vehicle when this happens?

No key in the car. Not running, car was previously locked by walk away with paak.
Did it with old ford pass app and the new one too.

OK, well it might pick up your phone with an antenna inside the car, so it thinks you're about to lock your phone inside the trunk. Try to keep the phone further away when you press the button, do it remotely, or open another door first to unlock the vehicle so it doesn't honk.

Yeah sounds possible. Once I think it happened after the hatch closed and I was walking by the side of the car.

Mine does this sometimes. It thinks there is something in the way. All O usually need to do is shift stuff in the back and close it again. ?ā€ā™‚?

That happened to me also. I had my gym bag in the back and I pushed it in further and that solved the issue. The camera saw the bag I guess???

Mine does the double honk fairly consistently if the car was locked when I open the hatch, then I close the hatch and walk away. (PAAK, no FOB, phone in my pocket). I've always assumed it was a reminder that the car did not lock the doors. If I stand near the hatch while it closes, the car doors lock and no honk. I like it and my wife hates it.

Looked in hatch area couldn't see any camera's that sense if there is an obstruction. Perhaps there is a sensor on the motor that senses a restriction closing?

Are your car doors locked or unlocked before open/close hatch? Are your doors locked or unlocked after the double honk? Where are you when the double honk occurs? I set the mirrors to fold upon door locking so I have visual indication of locking. My theory is that your double honk has nothing to do with your hatch not closing, but is telling you that your car doors are not locked. I do not have walk away lock turned on.

Are your doors locked or unlocked after the double honk? Assume the car locks again when I close hatch

Yes I have walk away on.

That’s part of the walk away lock. The car double honks (too loudly for my taste - and apparently your wife too)) to let you know that it did, in fact, lock the car as you walk away. You can turn that off in settings and have the mirrors fold in as a visual indication of locking.

That also sounds like the walk away lock double honk. As you walk away, the doors lock and the car double honks to tell you it locked. Try turning the honk indication off in settings. I use the mirrors folding as my walk away lock indication - much quieter. I think the sensor for walk away distance is near the front door, so that you may be far enough away at the back of the car to have it lock right after closing and then it honks.

My walk away lock is turned off as I prefer to lock manually, either with the front door inner panel switch or the little lock symbol above the door open button. The double honk only occurs when the door lock FAILS! And when the door locking fails, the double honk occurs and the mirrors are in the UNFOLDED position. So I have both a visual indication that my car is locked/unlocked and an audible indication if the locking failed. I'm perfectly happy with the way it operates. Again, the double honk occurs only when it did not lock. The double honk must occur for multiple situations, just a general alert?

Possible. I’ve used PAAK with walk-away on since the first week so I couldn’t confirm that honk the other way around, but it might.
