Hatch issue

New to this car, so here's a general question. When I touch the button on the outside of the hatch, it releases but doesn't open. I have to manually lift it, but it feels like I'm pushing against the motor. When it's fully open, the button closes it fully though. Is this the way it's supposed to work?

No. It should open automatically when you press that button.

The lift gate is probably set for a maximum open height of just open from the closed position. You can “teach” the car too open the lift gate to a position you desire. ??

Press the button again and it should fully open. I believe there is a software update to fix this.

That's what mine felt like when I accidentally set it to manual open in the settings.

Note though that the hands-free liftgate was discontinued mid 2022.

I had an issue with mine that a software fix resolved it. When pressing the button it would open a foot and stop. After the software update it works perfectly everytime

Yes, but the procedure to set the height for the power lift gate is the same hands-free or not. ??

The Liftgate will open fully if the car is *unlocked*. The bug is that it won’t open if the car is locked.

The 23-PU0630-RGT-PLO update fixes the issue.

Had the identical issues with my 2023 delivered in March 2024; took it back to the dealer for a software update and all works fine now.

One press when locked pops it open. Second press expands to the height that's been set by factory/user. I'm interested to see if mine eventually changes from this per the update GatorGrowl mentioned.

Needs a RFA software update at the dealer to fix that.
