as I say it’s been raining all day. I could do it now and have the poor recovery guy stand in the rain. But I’m better off doing it tomorrow when it’s dry. He won’t be able to fix it either way, and the dealer is closed regardless.

it is still alive, lights, dash etc all come on. It just won’t change out of park.
OK, then read up on how to activate emergency tow mode for when they come.

It could be any part of the high voltage system. It could be a coolant leak also. If it only happening while driving it is probably not the battery pack itself. To troubleshoot next move would be to disconnect all connectors from the battery and check if it still has a HV leak

To enter emergency towing mode, turn on and wait forever for the screen to turn on and go to vehicle settings and at the bottom to enable. It will ask to turn the shifter to N.

FYI, the BECM does this automatically by monitoring the resistance with the contactors turned on and off. It can tell the difference between an internal isolation and an external isolation fault. So there’s no need to remove connectors, the specific code would tell you.

I’ve had a message from the dealer via their health check website

MIL light on - Cabin heater required [Internal Fault] - not warranty cost £1094

does this sound right? Has anyone else had this issue? The problem is that the car is now at Ford and won’t move so it would be a nightmare to move anywhere else to get it done cheaper.

The car will probably move if the HV connector for the heater is disconnected. it should be possible by reaching down with the top access panel in the frunk removed (of course with the HV disconnect switch off), or if possible on the battery side. The heater is stuck verically at an angle at the back of the stack of other HV components.

I’ve just told Ford to do it. I need the car back on the road, plus if I didn’t get them to do they would then charge me a fair amount for the diagnosis anyway. Should get it back on Monday or Tuesday.
