Our Juice Box 40 is frequently not charging at the TOU scheduled time. It instead shuts down. I have reset it numerous times but at this point I am assuming it is a software glitch that is not going t be fixed since Enel X is not supporting the product anymore. I am looking for suggestions for a new home plug-in charger. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Emporia and Wallbox are always my go-to recommendations for plug-in home chargers. Both support advanced energy management features, like charging on excess solar which was important for me.

Set the VEHICLE to charge at the proper times.

A replacement board is in the works for $99. I wouldn't buy it quite yet.

This might be the right solution for you… but if not, I’m a huge fan of the Autel lineup of EVSEs. Autel has sent me a number of them for evaluation, and I can’t think of much about them that I don’t like. I personally own two of them - A discontinued 32 amp unit and a 40 amp unit. I have also installed a number of them for other people. They use a SinBon cable/J-handle that is one of the best out there in my opinion. If you look up reviews of early units by Tom Moloughney, just know that they have improved the cold weather flexibility of the charge cable.

Autel’s software is second to none. Their app does everything you want it to do (and probably more). The nice thing about their residential units is that they are basically the same as the commercial units without the touch screen and cellular modem.

Hard to do that if you share your charger with other vehicles in the household or friends/family with EVs that regularly charge there and it'd be a burden to ask them to set everything up. For that reason, I always set mine on the EVSE not the vehicle, that way every vehicle respects the rules, not just mine.

I guess I don't understand why it's a burden to ask someone using YOUR charger to setup their vehicle to charge during the proper hours, but whatever.

But to the OP's question - and as an owner of TWO JB48s - I plan to upgrade to this new board and get back all my capability as soon as they map out the power sharing on the same circuit.

That’s fine until you need to precondition outside of the schedule.

I'll second the Emporia. Mine has been flawless and it's one that is often selected by utility companies for direct purchase (or rebate) from them . Mine was free. Good luck!

I have 2 Emporia with over 3 years on each. They work great and the app is top notch.

Try deleting all of the precondition times, turning them off doesn’t stop them from activating( could be the OTAs).
Another thing is you may have too many hands in the pot, maybe your WiFi guest network can be used to block access to the charger.
