All in jest, my friend!
It’s funny because I hate that damn wall. I replaced all the nasty & stained pegboard on the other side with 3/4” plywood which looks so much better. One of these days I’ll get around to it. :)

I am looking to purchase and get my L2 home charger wired up in anticipation of my vehicle (don't ask when). Reading around the forum the Chargepoint HomeFlex seems to be a popular option and is also covered for rebates by my utility provider. What is the core difference between 6-50 vs the 14-50 plug options available? Does one offer a significant advantage over the other. I do have a marked section in my a garage stating EV charger which means wires are already pulled to it, not sure how many amps they are equipped to handle though.

For anyone considering an Enel-x JuiceBox 40, it's available at Costco for $550 (shipping included). The Costco price is about $100 less than purchasing from Amazon or directly from Enel-x. The menu picks on the Costco WEB page don't make it easy to find this product, so just enter EV charger into the search bar and go from there.

Your plug will be dictated by the wire size and number of wires that are available, the 6-50 is a 3 wire receptacle with 2 hots and a ground, it doesn't include a neutral wire. A 14-50 receptacle have 4 wires so includes the neutral wire connection. If your wire size is inadequate you may not be able to run 50 amps.

Just note that the product at Costco, and other stores, may not be the same product.

I bought the product direct from an electrician that was a distributor, so the product came directly from Enel-X. It is supposed to have a 25 foot cord. It was 18 feet. When I complained to Enel-X, they said "that's our Costco version, it has a 20 foot cord". I replied, nope, this is 18 feet and sent them pictures. It turned out to be an assembly issue.

The Costco version is listed with the 20 foot cord, and perhaps it is.

If you need 25 feet, better check that cord length before buying it from Costco. Otherwise, yes it's a good deal.

It's also not $100 less, it's $70.

Presuming the wiring you has is sized for 50A, I would go with the 14-50 simply because there are more EVSEs offered with this connection than others.

Hey everyone,

So I'm the market for a home charger and wanted to see what people around here are getting. I'm looking at the Grizzl-E, Chargepoint, or Juicebox. I seem to go back and forth between a smart charger and a "dumb" charger. Any thoughts?
I have the regular Grizzl-e 40A "dumb" charger and it has been amazing and super reliable. I would highly recommend avoiding the "smart" version as it caused my father-in-law nothing but problems as it would never connect or charge, even after the newest firmware update. He ended up sending it back and getting the "dumb" charger and has been loving it.

We both have Mach-E's.

The ChargePoint Flex looks really nice as well, but I couldn't justify the extra cost compared to the Grizzl-e.

I was able to open up the slot and not sure if it gives me any more insight. Do I need to take this base plate off to understand which kind of plug the builders set me up for?

Also looking outside at the junction box for the garage I think I am only seeing 20 - 30 A setups.

thats just an empty Junction box, not pre-wired for anything.

You will need to have an electrician run wire between Jbox and a 50amp double-pole breaker in your Service panel, and add a NEMA 14-50 receptacle so you can use your Mobile Charger OR hardwire a charger of your choice.

Fwiw my Enel x juicebox 48A hardwired is “smart” and that lets us qualify for electric co. rebates bc they can control when the charger can charge. It’s a test now but more coming in the future. U can always charge if you want to override them. But it’s been worth $120 in rebates so far since install.

GUY/MAN/DUDE,,,,yo I have been with JuiceWerks-juicebox-ENEL since 2015, They are a super awsome company, if you email them, you get a response in like 15 min, and its a tech/engineer type. They are a medium company, that is constantly evolving. They tried the prortables for a bit in 16, walked away cause to many junk MADE IN CHINA...oh this ones 80 bucks, who cares if my house burns down. they have a ton of options as far as hardwire, or plug in. the web site has 30-80 amps, BUT they are the same unit, you can set with your phone, or just say hea, i want a 50 amp with a yada yada plug, they'll set it and ship it. If you decide I want to know what the car and charger are doing, it is WI-FI capable. the first 3 I had I traveled with. sold with the vehicles. they are pretty rugged. I can get you a personal contact as well - note the lead engineer is the guy that made LEAF SPY the app for the LEAF. They won't bull-shit ya
