Since January 8th I have experienced problems withe home charging. I had the portable charger at first but service found water in it. I switched to the hardwired charger but it continually ignores the set charge times. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any work arounds. Ford has been all but useless. Been in service 3 times.

Did you set the charge time on the car or the charger?

If you're setting the charge times on the car, and it is ignoring them, there are a couple of things that might be happening. First off, if you set them in FordPass and not in the car, they might not have properly transferred to the car. So I would double check them in the car on the SYNC system.

Also, the charge times are set for a specific charging location. So it's possible that your car isn't sensing your home charging location properly. If you open FordPass and click on Location, it should show you where it thinks your car is, and it should match the location that you've set for the charger.

If you're setting the charge times on the EVSE charger, I would recommend turning it into a dumb charger, and setting the preferred times in the car. But it sounds like it's probably set for the car, since you said it has been in for service 3 times for this...

Agree with AliRafiee and ReverendPete.
First, set your charging location. I set mine at 'Home' so the address is in the database.
Second, be sure your Ford Pass App (FP) can access your WiFi. Sorry if this detail seems intuitive and unnecessary to mention.
Third, if charge times or departure times are not maintained, then set them in both the car and FP.
Fourth, be sure the charging level is set both on FP and in the car. Our charging synchs up fine between the two. I set to 80% while others set to 90%. If I want a full charge, I change temporarily to 100%.

We had issues with this during our first several months but, we were very rural. Ford must have improved because charging times and departure times work flawlessly now.

Hope this helps.

It will also not obey your charge times if it determines it won’t have enough time in your charge window to reach the target charge limit.

What % did you plug in at? What % is your charge limit? What are the start and end times for your charge window? How many amps is your charger setup for?

Given that you are hardwired in, I doubt this applies, but I will mention it. If on 120 volts, the system will ignore any schedule and start charging as soon as you plug it in. It needs to be 240 volts for it to obey the schedule. I ran into this when I was first charging with the mobile charger that I got from Ford for free. Even using the same charger but switching to 240 made it follow the schedule.

And what amps are you set at for your EVSE? If too low that could also have the same effect as L1 in that it may need to charge outside of window to hit charge target. Basically we need more information on your set up.

I have a 23 Rt1 AWD Ext. I have been using a 120VAC Ford portable charger at home since I purchased this fun pony. Once I have properly set the charging location and times, the charging follows those times UNLESS there will not be enough time to reach my desired state of charge with a given departure time. I live in CO and use Excel "time of use" billing to keep cost down. It even seems to delay charging to my off peak time when I do not set a departure time - if it can reach my 85% SOC by morning. I have seen times when my SOC was 50-60% and it ignores preferred times and starts charging right away. While I am pretty tech savvy, I am sure there is a drunken elf in there some where that sometimes makes decisions on a whim.

Then I don't know what was going on. I have seen other reports of what I happened to me too. I had set the schedule/home location/and state of charge to get to, which it did without any problem in the time I gave it (from midnight to 1 PM the next day). What would happen is it would start as soon as I plugged it in. I actually worked around the problem by putting in a smart switch that only gave it power during that period of time, and it worked just fine.

I would have even left it like that, but I found the garage door was on the same circuit (the only circuit in the garage). So, I had to put in a new circuit, and if I was going to do that, I decided to go with a 240 circuit. I even ended up using the exact same charger, but switched the plug from the 120 plug to the 240 plug and doing nothing else it started obeying the schedule (which is a really good thing since I doubt I would have ever found a 240 volt smart switch. But of course, I could have used another charger).

This problem seems to be concerning your last question. On the slider bar in the app it shows 12amps to 48amps. I have a 40 amp breaker so I slide to 40 amps and save. It says it saved. I go to vehicle side and time to charge remains the same. I go back to the charger tab and it’s back at 12amps.

If you have a 40 amp breaker, you should only draw 80% of that or 32 amps safely. Your EVSE should be set at 32 amps.

As @Space_Pony stated you should be at 80% of the 40 amp breaker, Although some EVSE have an app to set charge rate, the wall box (EVSE) should have either DIP switchs or another style device to set max charge rate based on breaker size. You should then be able to adjust charge rate in that range ie: 12-32 using the app.

I have a Wallbox. Set the dip switches inside of the Wallbox to the 32 amp setting, which you can find in the evse manual.

Since your Wallbox originally came with a 110V plug, the DIP switches probably were set for 12 or maybe 16 amps.
